The most recognized tennis tournament in the world concludes today from London. The 2013 Wimbledon Men's Finals will see the world No. 1 Novak Djokovic take on world No. 2 Andy Murray — just like the tennis world had hoped for when the draws were released.
Novak Djokovic has been the best player in the world for some time now. Andy Murray has reached the second overall ranking in the WTA rankings and now will get what many believe is his first real shot to win at Wimbledon.
Djokovic holds an 11-7 all-time advantage over Murray in their 18 career matchups. Yet, Murray did beat Djokovic in the 2012 US Open Finals to claim his only Grand Slam title to date. Believe it or not, the duo have only faced off once on grass court — at the Olympics last season, where Murray was able to pick up a win. Earlier this season Djokovic beat Murray in the finals of the Australian Open.
They're obviously both world-class players and the grass will definitely make this an entertaining matchup. The odds alone on the match show that it's a pretty even one and that we're going to be seeing a very great display of tennis.
Djokovic has has the easier draw, one could argue, but he is the No. 1 overall seed, so there's that. Look for this one to go five sets, because it's hard to argue against either player. Djokovic is the best in the world but Murray has beaten him in big matches before as well. We like Novak to get it done.
