The second major of the golf season, the U.S. Open, officially gets underway this Thursday (9:00am ET, Coverage of the four day event provided by NBC, ESPN) at the Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. The 113th U.S. Open, which features an $8,000,000 purse, will play out over the Par 70, 6996 yards course. 2013 US Open Odds at offshore bookmaker TheGreek.com have Tiger Woods listed as a +485 moneyline favorite ($100 wins $485) to win the tournament and his 15th major championship. Rounding out the top six favorites are Rory McIlroy (+1250), Adam Scott (+1615), Matt Kuchar (+1815), Phil Mickelson (+2050), and Graeme McDowell (+2050). Woods, who is seeking his fifth win of the season, will be paired with McIlroy and 2013 Masters champion Scott for Rounds 1 and 2; the trio will tee off from Hole One at 1:14pm ET on Thursday. Last year’s surprise U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson is drawing +3550 odds to win his second major. Simpson is grouped with amateur Steven Fox and two-time U.S. Open winner Ernie Els (1994, 1997).
