Heading into tonight's Game 7 between the San Jose Sharks and LA Kings, there are still six teams left fighting for the Stanley Cup Finals. Currently the odds to hoist Lord Stanley have the Pittsburgh Penguins as the favorites, according to Bookmaker.
There are just two teams left in the Eastern Conference as the Pittsburgh Penguins and Boston Bruins will get together later this week. The Detroit Red Wings have the worst odds against winning the Stanley Cup Finals, having led the Chicago Blackhawks 3-1 but allowing that team from the Windy City to win the last two games and force a Game 7.
The Red Wings are currently daring 15/1 odds to beat the Hawks and eventually win in the Stanley Cup Finals. The Blackhawks, on the other hand, are just 3/1 odds to win the entire thing. That's a major difference with just 60 minutes separating the winner from the loser in that big Game 7, which is going to be played on Wednesday night.
In tonight's game between the Sharks and Kings, LA is favored to win as the home team has won every game in that series. Most of the games have been very low-scoring with the oddity in Game 2, which saw LA win 4-3. The last four games have all ended with just three goals being scored. It's a brutal, physical battle between those two California clubs and neither one of the has the best odds to win the Stanley Cup. The defending champion Kings are drawing 5.25/1 odds right now to go the distance while the Sharks have a rather strange number, as oddsmakers have posted an 8.88/1 odds.
In any instance, based on the odds, it appears that the Pittsburgh Penguins and Chicago Blackhawks probably will play in the Stanley Cup Finals, if the oddsmakers have everything tabbed correctly. Those were the two best teams during the regular season of the NHL and probably the matchup most NHL fans are wanting to see. There would be stars all over the ice and two classic teams fighting it out to hoist the most coveted prize in hockey.
