2013 NFL Preseason Atlanta Falcons vs Tennessee Titans

The Atlanta Falcons will travel to Nashville this weekend for a 2013 NFL Preseason meeting with the Tennessee Titans. The two teams are scheduled to kick things off at LP Field at 8:00pm ET on Saturday. The latest NFL Odds and Picks from offshore bookmaker 5Dimes have the hosting Titans listed as a -3 against the spread favorite and the Over/Under set at 42.5 points. Atlanta is drawing +140 odds ($100 wins $140) to win outright while Tennessee is a -160 money line selection.

The Falcons are one of the best teams in the NFL, but that statement applies only to the regular season team. It is obvious to most that Atlanta Head Coach Mike Smith puts little to no emphasis on winning exhibition games.

Coming into this preseason, Smith's Falcons were 7-13 straight up and 10-10 against the spread in exhibition play. After two weeks of 2013 action, his club is now 7-15 overall and 11-11 opposite the number.

Week three can represent a shift in preseason performance, though, as coaches typically play their first string units into the second half. That has certainly been the case for the Falcons under Smith. Four of Atlanta's seven preseason wins with Smith on the sidelines have come in week three exhibition outings.

Not only are Smith's Falcons 4-1 in week three preseason action, they won those four games by an average of 11 points per contest.

Nonetheless, tonight Atlanta runs into a motivated Titans squad, one which would probably find an exhibition win more useful than the Falcons.

Tennessee was 6-2 in preseason play under Mike Munchak prior to this year's slate; it is now 6-4 after suffering a 22-21 home loss to the Redskins and a 27-19 loss at Cincinnati.

Simply put, Atlanta knows what it has, especially under center, but the Titans are still trying to figure things out. Jake Locker is a work in progress and he should get plenty of time to work against the Falcons defense, whether first or second string. However, given Locker's inconsistencies, backup Ryan Fitzpatrick, a former starter with Bills, should see a lot of snaps as well.

Fitzpatrick could be the key to a Tennessee win and cover against Atlanta. It is doubtful the Falcons scrubs present him with anything he has not seen, which means he should be able to help the Titans offense find the end zone a time or two.

2013 NFL Preseason Atlanta Falcons vs Tennessee Titans:

Atlanta Falcons +3 (+105), Over 54 (-110), +140 (Moneyline)

Tennessee Titans -3 (-125), Under 54 (-110), -160 (Moneyline)
