The 2013 New Mexico State Aggies schedule has 5 road games and 7 home games, with 6 bowl teams from last year dotting it. Their slate is highlighted by road dates with UCLA an Texas. Their full schedule is listed below, but first let's preview the 2013 New Mexico State Aggies.
The Aggies had a very bad year last year with a 1-11 and are considered as one of the worst FBS teams heading into 2013. In fact the USA today has them ranked 121 out of 125 teams. The Aggies do bring back 14 starters this year, but must replace their QB and they are learning schemes on both sides of the ball as Doug Martin takes over for the departed DeWayne Walker.
The Offense for the Aggies last year was bad as they put up just 18.7 ppg overall, including just 12.8 ppg in their last 6 games. Im not sure this offense will improve much this year, even with 7 starters back. Travaughn Colwell takes over at the QB spot, but just how good is he as Phil Steele had him ranked 207th when he came out of high school. The Aggies do return top RB Germi Morrison (767, 2 TD's) last year and they have their top wideout back in Austin Franklin (74 receptions, 1245 yrds 9 TD's) as well. The New QB will have the luxury of playing behind a solid OL that returns 4 starters and just may be the strength of this offense.
The defense ws just a mess last year and really doesn't appear to be all that much better this year, even with 7 starters back. The Aggies do have some talent in the secondary and they return their top 4 tacklers overall, but still the front 7 needs allot of work, especially after allowing 221 ypg and 5.7 ypc on the ground last year.
The team is not all that good on either side of the ball and they have little depth as well. Really just see 2 possible wins for this team and they are home games vs Idaho and Abilene Christian. Going to be a long year in Aggie land once again. Key Trends: Favorite in the Idaho series is 0-5 ATS... 8-0 ATS as dogs of 12 or less vs a sub .500 opponent... 4-1 ATS last 5 games at New Mexico.
