The Boston Celtics and New York Knicks continue their best of seven set tonight as they meet in a Game 2 clash at the Madison Square Garden. This evening’s contest is scheduled to get underway at 8:00pm ET; it will be broadcast live on TNT. The latest 2013 NBA Playoff Picks have the hosting Knicks listed as a -7 against the spread favorite and the Over/Under set at 185.5 points. Boston is drawing +255 moneyline odds ($100 wins $255) to even the series at a game apiece.
The Celtics put their best foot forward for three quarters in Saturday’s series opener with the Knicks, but a horrible final frame led to an 85-78 loss.
Paul Pierce, Jeff Green, and Avery Bradley all turned in nice offensive efforts, finishing with 21, 26, and 15 points respectively, but they received far too little help. Boston, which led 53-49 at the half, scored just eight points in the fourth quarter thanks mostly to a bench that accounted for just four points and did not make a single field goal.
The Knicks, which shot a miserable 40.5 percent from the field and 36 percent from beyond the arc, got double figures from Carmelo Anthony (36) and Raymond Felton (13), but fellow starters Iman Shumpert, Chris Copeland, and Tyson Chandler combined for three points.
Luckily for New York, its bench did the opposite of Boston’s reserves, coming through with 33 points and 19 rebounds.
Saturday’s win represented the Knicks fifth win (fourth straight) in their last six meetings with the Celtics. Boston last defeated New York on January 7th at Madison Square Garden, topping the Knicks 102-96. Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett combined for 42 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists, and four steals in that victory.
Notable Trend(s): The Knicks are 3-1 straight up and 1-3 against the spread over the last two years playing as a -6.5 to -9 point home favorite coming off two days rest and a home win (Over 3-1 in those four games).
Boston Celtics +7 (-110), Over 185.5 (-110), +255 (Moneyline)
New York Knicks -7 (-110), Under 185.5 (-110), -310 (Moneyline)
