2013 NBA Draft Start Time

Now that the NBA Finals are finished the basketball world turns its sights to the 2013 NBA Draft. The Cleveland Cavaliers won the draft lottery just a few weeks ago and will have the No. 1 overall pick. The 2013 NBA Draft Start Time is set for 7:00 p.m. tonight and it will be televised nationally on ESPN.

The draft is held in New York annually and this year it will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. It used to be held at Madison Square Garden up until a few years ago. In 2011 and 2012 the NBA Draft was held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Last year the New Orleans Hornets (now Pelicans) drafted Kentucky center Anthony Davis as the top overall pick. He was the consensus best player in college that season for the Wildcats, who went on to win the national championship. Just one pick later Davis' teammate Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was selected by the Charlotte Bobcats. Yet, although both were tabbed at the time to have a major impact in their first season, Weber State's Damian Lillard ended up being the rookie of the year in the NBA for the Portland Trail Blazers, who picked him sixth overall.

The Cleveland Cavaliers will not only draft in the top overall spot but also pick at No. 19, giving them the option to get two pieces they can use for their starting lineup as they look to rebuild. They've got one of the best young players in the NBA in Kyrie Irving and have a solid young group of players. If they can utilize their picks tonight the future certainly looks bright for the Cavs. The Atlanta Hawks are the only other team that has multiple first round picks tonight.
