The 2012 Wimbledon Mens Odds has defending champion Novak Djokovic as the favorite for the tournament at 5/4 odds courtesy of the Las Vegas Hotel (formerly Las Vegas Hilton). The odds indicate Djokovic has a 44 percent chance of winning Wimbledon for a second straight season. The greatest and oldest tennis tournament in the world returns on Monday from the All England Club in Wimbledon, London where they have been playing the same tournament since 1877. It is the third of the four majors played by both the men and women and generally regarded as the hardest one to capture. It's played entirely on grass and takes two weeks to complete.
Djokovic picked up a first set win over Rafael Nadal at the French Open but was quickly beaten in the two-day event because of weather and darkness issues. Djokovic beat Nadal at the Wimbledon finals last season, so it's possible that we could see both of them in the finals again this year. Djokovic won that match, which was the last time he was able to beat Nadal. But let's be real here. Nadal is the best player in the world on a clay surface and although Djokovic is the top ranked player in the world, he's always going to have a tough time beating Nadal on the red surface. It goes the other way as well. Djokovic is one of the three best players in the world on a grass surface, so it's no surprise that he is the odds-on favorite to win Wimbledon this year.
Novak is going to have a deep run in this tournament and he has a great chance to win the whole thing. He's got a decent road up to the semifinals, and there could be a repeat of last year's finals as Nadal is the second overall seed in the tournament. Djokovic has the game, is loose right now and seems to be in a good spot overall with his character. All three of those things will prove to be important in his 2012 Wimbledon run.
