2012 Kentucky Derby winner I'll Have Another will be running from the ninth post but isn't the odds-on favorite to earn the second leg of the Triple Crown. Currently Bodemeister is the favorite at 8-5, but I'll Have Another isn't that far behind at 5-2. Both horses are clearly the favorites among the shorter 11-horse event.
Triple Crown Winners (Official List): Sir Barton (1919), Gallant Fox (1930), Omaha (1935), War Admiral (1937), Whirlaway (1941), Count Fleet (1943), Assault (1946), Citation (1948), Secretariat (1973), Seattle Slew (1977) and Affirmed (1978).
Preakness Facts: Opening day at Pimlico Race Course in 1870 featured the Dinner Party Stakes that was won by a horse named Preakness. In the racetrack's spring meet of 1873, the 3-year-old stakes race was named after him and the rest is history. The first official Preakness was won by Survivor with a 10 length cushion between him and second place. This record win was not topped until 2004 when Smarty Jones took home the title by an amazing 11 lengths.
