The Boise State Broncos will battle the Washington Huskies in the 2012 MAACO Las Vegas Bowl on Saturday, December 22nd. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 3:30pm ET at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas; it will be broadcast live on ESPN. The latest bowl point spreads are favoring Boise State at -5.5 against the spread while Washington is drawing +180 moneyline odds ($100 wins $180). The game total in tomorrow’s meeting between the Broncos and Huskies is set at 44.5 points.
Boise State had an atypical season, which many expected after so many starters, including quarterback Kellen Moore, from last year’s 12-1 team departed in the off-season.
The Broncos offense clearly suffered from the wave of outgoing players, falling from 44.2 points per game to 30.4 per contest. Boise’s defense did not, though, as it limited opponents to an average of 14.9 points and 304.7 yards per game.
The Broncos defensive efforts enabled the program to maintain its high level of success. Boise State finished up 10-2, giving them double digit victories for a seventh consecutive season.
Washington has not reached a high level of success under fourth year coach Steve Sarkisian, but it has returned to relevancy thanks to back to back 7-6 seasons in 2010 and 2011. The Huskies maintained that level of achievement this year, closing out their regular season schedule with a 7-5 record.
Despite the 5.5 spread in this game, Washington, which finished the year on a 4-1 run, will have a decent opportunity to reach what by now must be a coveted eighth victory. The Huskies defense should have little difficulty stopping the Broncos mostly punch less offense, setting up what should be a low scoring slug fest.
