The 144th running of the Belmont Stakes was to be the site of I'll Have Another making a big push at horse racing history. Now, with the Triple Crown possible horse not being able to compete in the race, the odds have changed, moving up some of the 2012 Belmont Stakes contenders and their odds. 

The 2012 Belmont Stakes start time and official post time is 6:35pm EST tonight from Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. The 2012 Belmont Stakes Odds have Dullahan as the favorite at 9-5 with Union Rags just behind at 5-2. Along with those two, the other contenders for the race include Street Life and Paynter as possible horses to win the Belmont Stakes.

The current 2012 Belmont Stakes odds as of Saturday morning are Street Life 6-1, Unstoppable U 20-1, Union Rags 5-2, Atigun 15-1, Dullahan 9-5, Ravelo's Boy 50-1, Five Sixteen 50-1, Guyana Star Dweej 50-1, Paynter 4-1, Optimizer 20-1, My Adonis 15-1.

The Belmont Stakes is the third leg of the Triple Crown and is considered the toughest and most demanding when compared to the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. Only the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Kentucky Oaks has higher attendance in North America for a stakes race. Named after August Belmont, the race was first run at Jerome Park in 1867. Horse racing legend Secretariat’s 31-length victory in the 1973 Belmont Stakes made him the 9th horse to capture the Triple Crown after establishing a the world record for a mile and a half on dirt 31-length victory at 2:24. Historically, twenty-nine horses have had a chance to win the Triple Crown going into the Belmont Stakes, but only eleven were able to meet the challenge.
