I have seen it so many times before. Young fighter groomed for greatest put in the ring with an "almost" elite fighter. Many see the fight as just a stepping stone for the young fighter against a good but not great opponent.
This is the situation facing Olympic Gold Medalist Andre Ward. A lot of the great fighters of our time have passed these types of test with flying colors while others have failed miserable. Count me as one that believes Ward will fail for a couple of reasons:
1- Glass Chin
When your prodigy has a glass jaw it probably isn't the best idea to put him in the ring with a fighter considered one of the most fearsome punchers in boxing. Ward has been dropped by far less skilled and less powerful fighters than Miranda, so what do you think is going to happen when Miranda lands a big shot?
2- Homecoming
This fight is in Andre Ward backyard which always means he is going to feel pressure to put on a good show which is exactly what Miranda wants which is a slugfest. If Ward gets caught up in trying to impress the fans he will get knocked out.
3- Not over the hill
A lot of people think Miranda is pass his prime, but his only losses are to Kelly Pavlik and Arthur Abraham. He tried to outslug Pavlik and lost and Abraham was more skilled and took advantage of his wildness. Ward is nowhere near as talented or experienced as Pavlik or Abraham.
Edison Miranda by KO in the 6th round +220 on the Money Line. Mark the Tape!!!!!!
