NBA Insider Report: Sunday March 30, 2008

Now, the Warriors' top two captains are calling for help. "We got to get somebody that you don't expect up some nights," Jackson stressed after Golden State's loss to the Nuggets on Saturday. "Teams are really on our guys. They want to take away my quick three-pointers. ... They try to take Monta's left away. "We need somebody to get us going, to help us these last couple of games, because that's what we had last year. We had Matt (Barnes) Mickael Pietrus) playing well, and we needed that. And that's what we need now." Source: San Francisco Chronicle

"He did a little stairmaster and the bike, but no serious running yet," coach Avery Johnson said. "He's not really ready for that. We'll see him when we get back off this road trip, which is pretty much what we thought." Asked if Nowitzki would be available Wednesday, when Golden State visits the Mavericks, Johnson said: "I think we'll evaluate that Tuesday. We'll get him through the next couple days, and we'll know more when we get back and see him." Source: Dallas Morning News

Pau Gasol participated in a brief scrimmage and Andrew Bynum was told by Coach Phil Jackson he would accompany the team on a two-game trip next week, though he wouldn't necessarily play. Bynum was doing "really well" in his recovery after working his way through some patellar tendinitis in his injured left knee, Jackson said. "It's not really connected to his injury per se. It was just the amount of work that he's started to be able to do, which is impressive," Jackson said. "I told him to expect
to go on the trip to Sacramento [next Sunday] and Portland [on April 8]. Whether he can play or not, it may not be that time, but he's going to go through the workouts and practices and the pregame and whatever we have." Source: Los Angeles Times

Grant Hill missed Saturdays 110-104 victory over the New Jersey Nets due to a groin injury the forward said he has been dealing with since the Suns March 19 game at Seattle. Hill revealed the injury prior to tip-off and said he considered sitting out the previous three games as well. I cant play today, Hill said. If I had another day, if it wasnt a back-to-back maybe I could. Its not that I can play and Im resting it. I dont feel like I can play right now. Maybe that will change (today). East Valley Tribune Roy will test his sprained groin during Tuesdays practice a week after injuring the muscle against Washington and will not rule out a possible return Thursday against Houston or Sunday against San Antonio. Roy said he will test the injury by jogging lightly and making dribble moves on the court. But Roy said he will not risk further injury by attempting to return before he feels the injury is healed. If I feel it doing defensive slides or something, and I feel like its there, then Im not gonna force it, Roy said. source: Columbian
