Reflections from the Weekend that was..
Great Sports Weekend once again and no better place to be than Las Vegas! Friday Night hit the Bellagio to play cards with RJ and destroy the Bellagio Buffet once again. The best Buffet in Las Vegas! You never know who you will see at the Bellagio but this weekend it was Mark Cuban and several of his Dallas Maverick players hitting the tables. It's always a who's who of celebrities on the Las Vegas Strip.
Saturday the Preakness was center stage and I was spending the day with my finance Lori and her 3 nephews. So how do you entertain young boys ages 12,11 and 9. Well if you are a professional handicapper and you live in Las Vegas you teach them how to bet a horse race. Yes future Uncle Marco showed the boys the racing form and told them all about this super filly who was going to take on the boys and try to prove that she was not only a Champion Filly but a Champion period. After their quick handicapping lesson each one got to pick a horse and Uncle Marco sprung for a Win Ticket for each of them. Hell Lori's daughter even got into the action when she decided she too was betting on the filly.
Well we all know what happened the Filly showed the Boys who was boss and Seth, Jacob, Katie and Lori all cashed winning tickets only Michael who picked Flying Pirate and myself lost because ( I'm too stubborn to put a filly on top against colts lost). Michael lucked out because Lori gave him her winning ticket so he wouldn't feel left out. Isn't she a sweetheart but hey what about me I lost too where's my rebate??
On to Sunday and not one but two Game 7's. Game 7's are the most exciting thing in sports as you have all the drama of win or go home. Earlier in the week the Pittsburgh Penguins defied the odds and won a Game 7 on the road. Will it be done on Sunday in the NBA? In the NBA the Home team was 82-20 straight up in Games 7's so the deck was stacked against Orlando and Houston. But listening to the so called media pundits and talk show hosts all weekend you would think one of these teams had a good chance but it wasn't the one you would think. Houston was a 12.5 point Underdog where Orlando was only a 2.5 point underdog but yet more people were talking about how there must be something wrong with the Lakers. Is it Phil Jackson? Is it Kobe? Why are the Lakers struggling with a team that is without both of it's super stars? Then in the other game you have the most storied franchise in all of Basketball laying only 2.5 points at home in Game 7 against a team that has been referred to as chokers for the repeated blowing of big leads. Their head coach has been questioned by the media and by his own superstar player so how in the world would Orlando have any chance at all in Boston for game 7. So what happens the Lakers go out and blow away the Rockets and Orlando smokes the Celtics. I didn't touch the Lakers game because quite frankly I didn't know which Laker team was going to show up but I was all over the Magic as I knew the minute I saw the line of only 2.5 that's who I was going to be betting. I felt Vegas was begging for Boston money and Orlando delivered a stunning Game 7 Winner.
So in recap when something looks too good to be true like Boston at home in Game 7 in a basically pick the Winner situation it usually is too good to be true.
Also when in Vegas there is no better way to have fun than spending your money on fast women as it is a great way to score....Get your heads out of the gutter I'm talking Rachel Alexandra as she is one fast filly... C'mon I'm engaged that's the only fast women I play around with these days...You got to love Vegas!!!
