By Marc Lawrence It used to be that when you talked Big 10 Football you were talking Ohio State. After all, the Buckeyes won at least a share of the last six Big Ten Championships while compiling a 43-5 mark in conference play in that span. They’ve gone 106-22 in games over the last 10 years, winning a national championship and playing in eight BCS bowl games, including six straight the last six years. Ah, those were... Read more

By Marc Lawrence After leading the nation the previous four years with the most players selected in the first-round of the NFL Draft (30), the ACC lost a momentary grip on the position when only three players were chosen on Day One of the draft this season. Included was Florida State's Christian Ponder, who became the first ACC quarterback to go in the opening round since Matt Ryan in 2008. The floodgates opened... Read more

By Marc Lawrence The 2010 College Bowl games have descended upon us and with it we begin working overtime on the season as we handicap the matchups. One time-tested theory that holds up well during the post-season is isolating teams and how they fared in games this campaign against winning opposition. It's one thing to make your mark against stone-cold losers. It's another to be able to go toe-to-toe against... Read more

By Marc Lawrence Smart handicappers alike agree on one thing - preparation is the key to success. The better prepared you are the better chance you stand at succeeding. With the 2010 College Bowl season now upon us it's time to get ready for the thirty-five games that await. While a myriad of different techniques and approaches exist one simple element is often overlooked and that is how teams are or have been... Read more

When U.S. space shuttle Apollo 17 returned safely to earth December 19, 1972 after landing on the moon, it was the sixth and last Apollo mission in which humans walked on the lunar surface. Safe to say that after over 300 hours of elapsed time, the performance of the spacecraft was excellent for all aspects of the mission. The Apollo program totaled 17 missions in all and included the only 12 humans to have ever... Read more

By Marc Lawrence November is, unquestionably, the best time of the season for sports fans. The NBA and College Hoops seasons tip off a new campaign. The NFL enters its second-half race while College Football concludes heads to the finish line with teams scurrying for bowl bids. It's also a great time for handicappers as value-aplenty abounds. Our focus in the world of College Football begins to center around postseason... Read more

By Marc Lawrence With Halloween now in the rear view mirror, it's on to the best time of the College Football season - the month of November! That's because the combination of stats and angles combine to bring us the best winning edges of the year. Our ‘Puttin' On The Stats' theory is a dandy, and best of all it's simple. What we are looking to do is to ‘Play On' any team as a dog if they've won all - or all... Read more

By Marc Lawrence Imagine being a 10-plus win team last season and now a losing squad at this stage of the season. How difficult of a job is it for a coach to get his team psyched to play this week, you ask? Plenty. According to our database, losing teams in Game Eight of the season who won 10 or more game last year are 17-35-1 ATS since 1980. If these same teams allow 21 or more PPG on the season they dip to... By Marc Lawrence As we continue to extol the virtues of playing with rest during the college football season, let's expand our look into GAME SIX. It seems teams taking on a conference opponent fare rather well with a breather as evidenced by an overall 141-119-1 ATS in all games since 1980 when playing off a week of rest. Bring them in off a SU loss and they improve to 81-57 ATS. We find four teams in that role... Read more

By Marc Lawrence It's the time of the season in which undefeated teams in the world of College Football begin entertaining ideas of playing in the coveted BCS title game. Especially for those teams that have managed to open the season with five consecutive wins in their first five games. Forewarned is forearmed, however, when it comes to ‘playing on' these 5-0 clubs as Game Six is often times a major chuckhole... Read more
