Daily Message:
Pretty awful overall day last night…
sorry guys! Tonight I’m offering all my plays for free! I’m just
working on tomorrow’s card right now… good luck to all!
PLAYS:
NBA - 501 New York Knicks @ 502 Orlando Magic
***SINGLE DIME PLAY***
Projected line: Orlando by 5 points | 217 points
This will be a fun game to watch due to the mentality of both teams right now!
The
new-look Orlando Magic version is playing in a faster pace; they are
scoring in transition and finally there are hitting some treys –
something that they badly need to be a true top team. That wasn’t
happening until…last week!
Even though the Magic is still dead last in the league in Fast Break
points with 9.4ppg note that since the game against the Spurs, the
Magic scored 30, 20, 16 and 14 fast break points – all numbers way above
their season average.
Also in their four wins, against San Antonio, Boston, New Jersey and
Cleveland, the Magic have shot a scorching 47.4 percent from 3-point
range:
13-25 vs. San Antonio
11-29 vs. Boston
12-28 vs. New Jersey
19-31 vs. Cleveland
Finally their ball movement has been superb
if we think how much they have struggled early on the season in this
department! 22, 31, 16 (vs. Boston), 26 and 27 assists in the last 5
games is a good sample of how they are sharing the ball. Heck, Gilbert
Arenas is coming from a game in which he dished 11 assists in 32 minutes
of action!
With the Knicks bringing to Orlando their usual run and gun - fast
paced style we have a nice receipt for a good offensive performance from
the Magic.
However I also think that the Knicks can make some damage tonight…
The Knicks showed some glimpses of a good defense in short spans but
overall they are still a terrible defensive team due to their lack of
size on the frontcourt. Simply put... Dwight Howard will enjoy a big
game tonight! However the Knicks can still be competitive with this kind
of mismatch…
Against the Bulls, Boozer scored 26 points and grabbed 19 boards and
even in the last game, Zydrunas Ilgauskas had an unbelievable line of
6-8 FG, 14 points and 10 rebounds in just...14 minutes of playing time!
Nevertheless, the Knicks were able to defeat the Bulls and performed a
terrific comeback against Miami...
I expect the Magic to be seduced from the Knicks approach of the
game and turn this contest into a wild game. The problem is that the
Knicks are a well oiled machine in this kind of game while the Magic
still are yet to find the right chemistry especially on the defensive
end.
Offensively they have been great just because they have tons of
talent on their roster but on the defensive end they have been
struggling to defend the pick n roll play – the bread and butter Knicks
offensive play.
Take the Over and the Knicks in here as my Single Dime Plays.
Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 501 New York Knicks (+7.5) @ -110 / 1.91 on Bookmaker
Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 501/502 Over 213 @ -110 / 1.91 on The Greek
NBA - 505 Utah Jazz @ 506 Portland Trail Blazers
***SINGLE DIME PLAY***
Projected line: 184 points
In my opinion we have some good value with the Under in this contest
as my projected line is 184/185 points – good enough for a Single Dime
Play.
First of all, this isn’t a good physical spot for both
teams. The Jazz will play tonight their third game in the last 4 days,
being today a b2b set on the road. On the other side, the Blazers plays
for the fourth time since the Christmas day and this will be their first
game after a 3-game road trip. These two teams have been shorthanded
and so their starters are logging major minutes as of late.
The
Jazz played last night against the Clippers and once again they were
able to setup a come from behind win. Andrei Kirilenko and 6th man C.J.
Miles didn’t play (they are questionable for tonight) and 4 of the Jazz’
starters logged at least 32 minutes.
For the Blazers, Marcus
Camby is probable and he will play tonight. Portland is having some ball
movement problems as of late. In the L3 games they have committed 16,
18 and 18 turnovers while their A/rate% numbers aren’t impressive at
all.
This will be the third contest between these two teams this season being the last one just 3 days ago.
I’ve
tracked the pace of both games and as you can guess this series has
been a “half court” series. Today with the fatigue factor being an
issue, we can expect this trend to carry on especially with the Blazers
playing at home and dictating the tempo of the game.
The first 2
h2h’s games ended with 187 and 197 points but note that both outcomes
were the result of a bizarre 4th quarters score. In the first contest
the Jazz scored 38 points in the 4th quarter when C.J. Miles connected 5
treys in the quarter! Finally, in the last game the score was 83-78 for
the Blazers with 2 minutes remaining! Both teams combined to score 26
points in the last 2 minutes of the game!
The Jazz have revenge
in their minds so we can expect them to be aggressive since the start
while the Blazers want to bounce back after a tough road loss in Denver.
Take the Under in here as my Single Dime Play.
