Last night we swept the board going 3-0 with 3 underdogs winners: the
+150 Orioles, the +122 Indians and the +114 Twins. We are now 8-3 in the
season with 5 underdogs winners plays.
For today I believe that we have a great spot and a great chance to
collect another winner play even though we are dealing with a favorite
team.
The Indians were able to defeat the White Sox last night but going
for this contest this is a terrible spot for them. Note that yesterday’s
game was a “late game” that went to extra innings so it took longer
than usual. Note also that their SP Justin Masterson showed some good
stuff but he left the game after “just” five innings. That left a tight
game in the hands of a bullpen without Kerry Wood and for the rest of
the game six out of the seven pitchers in the Indians’ bullpen made
appearances so for today don’t be surprised if the Indians may struggle
later in the ballgame.
Today the Indians send D. Huff to the mound and he is far from being a
top notch quality pitcher. Last season he struggled on the road and in
this spring training even though he had a 4.18 ERA his SO/BB ratios were
far from being impressive with 12/8.
Meanwhile the Tigers are in favorable spot. They have defeated the
Royals yesterday in an afternoon game with some clutch plays down the
stretch. Today it’s their home opening game of the season so we can
expect a sellout and a pretty motivated team. Miguel Cabrera and Maglio
Ordonez are playing at their best and the Tigers have a pretty confident
lineup right now.
Today they will send Rich Porcello to the mound. We know that he had a
good rookie season last year but if there were some questions about his
ability to keep carrying his good stuff and not fall into a sophomore
slump these doubts may have disappeared with his spring training
performances> 1.21 ERA and just 3 walks in 6 appearances!
For this contest I believe that we have 4 important edges> better
spot, best pitcher on the mound, bullpen advantage and a better lineup
and so I’m taking the Tigers in here as my Double Dime Play.
