Golden State @
Orlando
The Warriors are
coming from an easy win at Miami and they play today at Orlando, who has been
great lately. The Magic are 8-2 in their last 10 games, while the Warriors are
7-3. The line for this game is at -7,5 points for the Magic and after some
doubts about winning at home, Orlando is now better in the field, having won
their last five games at home. For this game if you like the Warriors, don't
take the +7,5 points. Take the moneyline. That's right. The Warriors when they
are away dog they just cover the spread when they win the game outright (7-10
ATS away dog and at the same time 7-10 SU). This will be an hard test for them,
after all, this will be their 4th game in 5 days, always in different towns and
against a team in a good run, the totals line is at 230 points. It may be
scary, but with the Warriors nothing is impossible (8-1-1 O/U in their last 10
games). Everytime the line gets higher, the Warriors score even more. The
matchup of tonight is favorable for the over. They won't be able to stop Howard
and so, they will play small and fast - Don Nelson style! In their last game at
Oakland, the match ended with 117-123, with 109-109 in the regular time. But
the Warriors shot terribly in that game - just 37.8% FG and 9-40 3pts!
Charlotte @
Washington
Yesterday the Wizards
prove that I was right when I said that the Wizards were going to make their
match against Toronto a ball game and that they could ended up winning it at
the end. And they really won it! Today they will play a b2b game, just like the
Bobcats. We can't forget the good moment of Charlotte, who has won their last
four games and they also showed good basketball in their game at Boston. But
maybe they won't come for this match in an ideal position for them. This will
be their 4th game in 5 days, including home and away travels. But they have the
momentum on their side and they're young and dangerous. However the Wizards
have been dominating these series (3-0 until now) and this game will begin a
home streak. Their next five games will be at home and Eddie Jordan surely told
his players of the importance of this stretch.
Boston @ Memphis
This game starts with
Boston being favored by 11 points. Do you remember last night Detroit @Knicks?
Similar line (ended 11.5) and Detroit had revenge from the Knicks and they were
also coming from a tough loss against Boston, but the Knicks competed and
covered the handicap. Will Memphis do the same today? They won last game
against the Nets, their first win in 10 games, but when they face top teams,
they tend to be severally spanked. They lost by 21 vs Utah; 21 vs Houston; 14
vs Utah; 20 vs Cleveland; 15 vs Dallas. I can't simply trust them. Boston comes
from a blowout win against the Bulls, with 20 points lead at half time and they
could rest well their starters. Ray Allen was the starters with more playing
time yesterday and he was only in the field by 17 minutes. For such a huge
spread will be the bench of Boston (Rivers used 7 reserves yesterday) who will
decide who will cover the game tonight: Boston or Memphis.
New Jersey @ Dallas
This is a bad time
for Dallas, as they are coming from three straight losses and you know,
everybody is questioning the Kidd effect on the team. But frankly, the date of
the trade wasn't favorable for Dallas, just like it was the trade of Shaq to
the Suns. Dallas needs some time to adjust Kidd to the team and the schedule
wasn't the best neither. Just look at this: Dallas since Kidd joined the team
is 4-5 and all 4 wins comes by beating teams with losing records and all the 5
losses comes from teams with winning records (Hornets, Spurs, Lakers, Utah and
Houston). Today they'll face the slumping Nets and this is a good chance to
stand up for them. This game will start a stretch where Dallas will face 5
teams in a row with losing records. The Nets are 0-3 in this road trip and this
is a double b2b game for them. Their players want to show to Kidd that they are
a good team but this will be hard for them to prove that today.
Denver @Utah
The best on the table
today. Two great teams and I could find arguments for both teams in here. But
yesterday both teams played their games in an opposite way. Utah won a big game
on the road against the Suns yesterday, by rallying Phoenix late in the fourth
quarter by 41-24. And Denver finally was capable to beat a team by practicing a
good defense and it was against the Spurs, who saw their winning streak of 11
games being interrupted. In the last game Utah won at Denver at overtime, so
this will be a revenge game for Denver. The Nuggets defeated at home Phoenix
and San Antonio, but today they have a huge test away from home. Utah is the
best team of the league at home and they are yet to lost at home in 2008. Very
tough game tonight.
Minnesota @ LA
Clippers
The Wolves got
yesterday their third away win of the season, defeating the Kings by 111-103,
even with a great performance of Kevin Martin. It's curious to see that in the
following game of their other two away wins, the Wolves were also capable of
covering the handicap and it was against Dallas and Phoenix! After the terrible
defeats against the Hornets (89-109) and against Utah (76-105), Randy Wittman
was capable to motivate the team and they were also to win in a very tough
stadium. And why not winning at the Clippers? The team got spaked by the rivals
Lakers by 82-119. That's 37 points of difference! I don't like to go against
team that are coming from humiliating losses, as their players must be angry to
bounce back. In the last game, the Wolves won by 104-83, including a 52-27 run in
the second half, so this could be a revenge game for the Clippers. But I have
to be honest. Basically any game for the Clippers is a revenge game, so this
won't matter at all today. Kaman has been playing limited and this can help the
Wolves to have some edge in this game, who count with Al Jefferson who is
making his breakout season.
