As for your tip - I agree, attitude is everything. If the clerk is helpful and friendly, answers my questions, prints out lines for me that aren't on their board or sheets, etc. I crush a few bills across the counter.
On other occasions I've asked questions about props and the guy makes a face and says the sheets are across the room (they were not - that's why I asked). Another time I asked when they open and instead of just saying 8:30 the guy pointedly looked at a small sign which was hard to see that listed their times, paused and then sarcastically said 8:30. They love to make you look like a fool.
Another time I walked up to one guy to cash a ticket (not seeing a small closed sign on his desk), he took the card and threw it up in the air behind him and said,"Well I guess SOME people can't wait !" One time their self serve kiosk chewed up my ticket. The manager actually started YELLING at me saying I did something to break his machine ! These guys really make you feel like Rodney Dangerfield.
