I tried to convince Derek, the owner, to make his brand new fresh property smoke free throughout, but he said smoking and gambling sort of go together. I totally disagree. He is catering to a dying (literally) segment of the market, while ignoring a huge untapped segment from California who always tell me they would go to Las Vegas but they hate all the cigarette smoke.
If he made his property completely smoke free, he would have an instant marketing angle against his competition. His smoking customers can go across Fremont Street to his other properties -The Golden Gate and The D. I passed along two other marketing angles and just received a chuckle saying he'd think about it.
This guy needs to hire me on to his marketing team. I have a ton of ideas that would leave his customers leaving his properties with a spring in their step rather than head down and growling about how much money they lost. These ideas would be very low cost to his properties.
Right now his big thing is parking his sports car outside The D with a sign "Someone will win this car!" Folks passing by all know what their chances are of winning. My ideas would make EVERYONE feel like a winner !
No cigarettes means no chronic!
