Race 9 - Fanduel Breeders' Cup Juvenile - Grade 1 2YO only
Now 2 races stand out in this year as top class races and this is certainly one of them. In it is my horse to follow and my first future bet in this years Breeders Cup.
The Contenders in my eyes
East Avenue - Has won twice and has looked good doing it. 1 of those wins was a hands down ride in the Breeders' Futurity - Grade 1 in Keeneland and he beat the fav Ferocious.
Chancer McPatrick - Has won 3 times and has looked good doing it. One of those was in the Hopeful Stakes Grade 1 in Saratoga and he beat the fav Ferocious. The other was in the Champagne Stakes - Grade 1 in Belmont.
Ferocious - Won his maiden in some style, lost to Chancer in the Hopeful and Lost to East Avenue in the Futurity.
Jonathan's Way - Has won twice, his latest was the Grade 3 Iroquois Stakes in Churchill, This is a major step up and I don't know if he will do it today.
Shin Believe - Has won once and is meant to be the best of the Japanese.
Gaming - Has won twice, won LTO on this track in the Del Mar Futurity - Grade 1 and is the best of Bafferts three.
Snap's Summery
OK, its all down to the pace of the race, and Shin Believe and Getaway Car will want the lead, were that leaves East Avenue in Gate 1, He will want to be up there, Jonathan's Way and Ferocious in a stalking position and the Chancer will be out the back. This is perfect for Ferocious but he will have to pass East Avenue as the pace setters die out, If that happens, Gaming and Chancer McPatrick will be running them down. I have Ferocious at 20/1, 16/1 and 14/1 so I'm praying for him. But the way East Avenue runs it will be hard and I think Chancer will have to start his run a little bit later then usual, which wont help him. Also the Baffert three, he will have a plan for them, Getaway Car could set a very fast pace to ensure Gaming has a chance.
Snap's Play
Have to stick with Ferocious, but I do fear East Avenue. I also fear Ferocious doing something stupid or something stupid happening to him as what happened the last two times he has run. I think if he runs to his ability he has to be in with a great chance. Chancer McPatrick running style has me worried about him, as he is a Sierra Leone type of horse and the line will come to quick for him. Ferocious to beat East Avenue, Chancer to beat Gaming for 3rd.
Best of Luck to all in this race, to me it's the highlight of the Friday card. So hope you enjoy it with a winner.
