Ben Rothwell (-140) [1 unit]
I don't often bet fights this far ahead of time but I'm comfortable putting this one in. I think it should be more like -200. Rothwell has lost to 6 fighters since 2008 (Arlovski twice). Struve in his prime was not as good as any of those 6 fighters are probably are current day IMO. Rothwell knocks people out and Struve is prone to being KO'd. Rothwell is 20-4 in fights decided by KO and 13-2 in fights decided by submission. Struve is only 8-7 when decided by KO and 18-1 when decided by submission. Struves strength is far from a weakness of Rothwells game but I cant say that vice versa. Struve could potentially take Rothwell into deep water and find himself in a position where he can use his length to constrict Rothwell from doing anything, but I don't see that possibility worth the +110 on Struve. Additionally Struve doesnt have the 1 shot power that could KO Rothwell (unless via kick) and I cant foresee him landing volume on him. In an exchange, Rothwell has a bigtime advantage due to his power. Rothwell eats more strikes than he gives out but Rothwell landing even at a 1:2 ratio in this fight I think should be enough for him to KO Struve. Struve's 47% significant strike defense tells me hes going to get hit, and I dont want to put my $ on his chin holding up.
Edit: I still like Rothwell but if I didnt already place my wager I think I'd lower it to the .5-.8 unit range
Song Yadong (-190)
This kid looks like a future champ. Stamann isn't. Yadong is the more well rounded fighter and superior striker. Hes also very multiple with his strikes which will be difficult for Stamann to defend. Stamann is a wrestler but Yadong is no slouch on the ground. Hes also got 100% takedown defense. Stamann's best chance to win by far is the annoying "wrestle-fück" style and taking it to decision. Just dont see him being able to do that against Yadong. It's also more fun to say "Yadong".
Font/Simon - Fight will NOT go distance (+165)
Hope I'm a help.
