Based on Sagarin SOS, I think all AFC home teams have the stronger SOS. Scary taking HOU+3 over Chargers.

I just cant come to terms at LA Rams being 5,

It might of started out as looking the 5th hardest, but its not ended that way. They have RAMS at 5 and Lions at 7 and Rams played 4 teams that made it to the playoffs. Philly, Billls, Vikings and Lions winning 2 and Detroit played 8 winning 7 of them. This is full proof that these ratings are outdated.

Philadelphia SOS is 31, and they have played 6 teams that have made this years playoffs. GB, TB, Wash (2), Rams, Ravens, Steelers. (Lost 2). TB, WASH.

L.A Rams SOS is 5, and they played 4 teams Philly, Billls, Vikings and Lions. (Lost 2) Philly, Lions.

If you put this years Rams schedule on to next years SOS rating I don't think the Rams would be in the top 15 and Philly would be in the top 10. So this means that the realistic SOS is RAMS (16) and Philly (5), but that's not the stat that they want you to read.

Does the SOS analysis take into consideration injuries at various points in the season? What about load management in Week 18? For example, the Packers beat LA when the Rams did not have Nacua and Cupp...and the O-line was beat up. Rams were pretty much at full strength when facing Eagles on a Sunday night. Those wins are not equal. The Broncos just beat the then 15-1 Chiefs 38-0...when the Chiefs played their water boy.

Also, what good is the strong schedule if you lose to all of the "strong " teams? And what if you played a "weak" schedule...but beat the two best teams in your conference? See, e.g. Tampa beating Detroit and Philly.

Finally, the strongest teams generally always play a weaker schedule relative to the weakest teams because...well...because you can't play yourself!

Good Luck Derby....SOS at start of season versus SOS at end of season based on teams relevance of finish would be the way to look at it.....

Trips you are correct. The SoS stuff I use at TeamRankings.com has a Basic ranking and a power rating ranking. Subjective stuff though when considering injuries, scheduling spots, etc.
At the end of the day, SoS is just another tool in the box.
