Hello fellow NFL Fans!
SpaceMan1 decided to return and the MAIN reason I returned:
the NFL. I admit the wanderlust of the "swing-for-the-fences" Gambling mentality has never fully gone away
but for a One-Spot in Fishzhang's SUPE Simulator why the heck not.
Hard to ignore the present-day journalistic malfeasance JUST IN SPORTS REPORTING
and these bull s articles such as Belichick and his 24 year old Taco - who cares?
In my day these articles got the wanna-be journalist FIRED quicker than an Orange Man Firing I admire
on his most successful TV Reality show.
Arguments that I think got Skip Bayless "removed"....
And I no longer follow Cowherd and will be rooting against him forever and most of you already know why....
Hope this "take-a-knee" against America does not rear its ugly head during an Election Year
and if I knew how to bet on an "October Surprise" I would take out 20K buy the ticket and Post that here.
So let's get to what I feel my stronger suits is in this one life I have:
The NFL
"H" is in only ONE Day of the Week in King's English: tHursday.
Old Time sheets in the 1960's we had:
X - Sunday
M- Monday
T- Tuesday
W- Wednesday
H- Thursday
F- Friday
S- Saturday.
The Defending SUPE Champs the *CHIEFS are hosting the Ravens H night.
Can't play this game on the SUPE Simulator but can play it here on MAKE PICKS
Just a few quick tidbits about tonights game that made my decision:
1. Bal O Line: I was told THREE (3) starters out/traded, etc. O Line continuity is the FIRST variable I look at.
Now those of you who CHARGE for Picks don't get your VooDoo dolls out against the SpaceMan1....you will always find
those who are willing to pay for YOUR expertise so I am NOT "cutting/stopping" your "action". Most disregard/ignore me anyway.
Those who are smart enough to pay attention when the CROWD is herding another way deserve their Spoils.
Napoleon Bonaparte had Insomnia and would get up at 2 - 4 a.m. to inspect the gunnery cannons himself while the 2nd Lieutenants were
out shagging the Local Ladies. Napoleon won many battles where he was out-manned and out-gunned.
2. *Chiefs to do the NEVER-DONE YET in the NFL: Three-Peat. Win the SUPE Three (3) years in a row. Never been done. Ever.
Many are saying that the *CHIEFS has the Team to do just that: Three-Peat. I say NO. 31 other Teams out there that are trying as hard as
they can to upend the Champ. Whoever the HeavyWeight Boxing Champ was during the 60's - 90's when I followed that Sport the Champ
almost ALWAYS said that it was harder to STAY the Champ then the Journey to get there. That rings true imnsho with Football and Baseball
for sure. *CHIEFS still has QB Mahomes and that is a big plus. I used to bash HC Andy Reid mercilessly but must stop because NOW he
has a FEW Lombardi Trophies to my ZERO. Yes he is a PRO and I am a HACK but still: Reid has those THREE Lombardi's to shut me up.
Reid has finally learned to let his Team run they way it was designed to run and get out of the way. I STILL am willing to argue until the end
of Time that Reid had a BETTER Team in those peak EAGLES' Years. Especially on Defense. Which Leads me to....
3. This Opening Line "seems" a little LOW to me. The last time these Teams played was that AFC Title game where the *RAVENS were the
Home Chalk favored by -4.5. That 1st half showed me how good the Chiefs were and I picked them right then and there to win the SUPE no
matter who the opponent was. That video is still up on my NFL Channel.
To be Favored THIS game w/ all those Losses on the Bal O Line just seemed small to me. MY own 'create-my-own-pointspread" I have the
*CHIEFS -5.5.
I don't have that Rewind program I had years ago ( not sure it still exists) and I don't have time to get the chance to re-watch that game but
my memory IS correct: the Chiefs's sharpness w/ execution against the highly-touted *RAVENS was a sight to behold. Reid did have his
Team ready to play and play well they did. YET, the *RAVENS clawed their way back TWO separate times, and that was mostly Lamar
Jackson. *RAVENS only ran the ball 16 times, w/ Jackson w/ eight (8) of those carries and the longest run of 21 yards and Jackson out-
rushed the other Backs on his own Team. The Chiefs did a good job spying and staying home against the run. So WHY might this Line of -3
"seem" low to me? My experience with evaluating Teams like the *CHIEFS is this: their D over-performed last year. In all the other Andy Reid
*CHIEFS teams he had not much of a "D". If memory serves me well, the *CHIEFS had a bottom-5 D in the League and still sucked out
that SUPE win over 49ers. Their O was stacked enough for Tyreek Hill to be jettisoned to the Fish.
4. This Spot: Home Champs opening nights has an outstanding record and I want to say that record is 13-5 ATS, with out of those Five (5)
Losses TWO (2) of them have been the last two years: The Rams and *CHIEFS last year hosting the Lions ( and yes we had LIONS w/
points, did not pick SU winner, just ATS). Does complacency sneak into the *CHIEFS here thinking that " Oh well we lost last year opener no
big deal" OR "We want to Three-Peat". Methinks they will be MOTIVATED for the Three-Peat but will fall short. They may get close, they
might make the SUPE, but my $$$ says they will lose that SUPE no matter the opponent ( especially if it is the 49ers - they are going to go
all out).
So if I am correct and the *CHIEFS D does take the predictable step-back, that will allow a MOTIVATED with a chip on his shoulder Lamar
Jackson to run wild on the *CHIEFS. But the *CHIEFS O is still pretty much intact as far as I know and they will score points.
If I was an Over /Under bettor I would look HARD at the Over as BOTH O's might flourish in this game, thus the "Low Line/Chalk".
I am taking the *CHIEFS ML knocking off those points just in case Jackson gets his team close at the end.
Good luck to all
