Here is my question/thoughts re the Atlanta division bet. Falcons first 3 games are Steelers, at Eagles, Chiefs. At DKNG, the Falcons are now -2 and -120 on the ML Week 1 hosting the Steelers. If the Falcons lose to the Steelers, there's a decent chance they go 0-3...which would make it tough to win the division...even with their soft schedule and weak NFC South competition. Also, the season long bet means that one has to wait 6 months to collect on the -115 or -120 bet.

So why not just bet the Falcons on the ML -120 in week 1? If they win, you collect immediately. If they lose, well, you may have lost the season-long Division bet anyway. Just throwing it out there for folks to think about.

Very good point TO. noted. but, why not bet both? I'm not sure but last I checked I think the Falcons were -130 to win the Div. But that was a couple of weeks back or so. Cheers!

Hey TO, I forgot to mention that I play a number of futures bets each season, including Div winners etc. So when I posted this thread It was at that time and the Falcons were one of my bets. But I also agree that they are a play week 1. Cheers!

I think much of the Falcons' optimism in the market comes down to a great schedule where they have three tough games all year, with two at home and the other against a team coming back from Brazil the previous week. Two of those three games come at the beginning of the season, and while Cousins is expected to be on the field for Week 1 after tearing his Achilles midway through last year, it's anyone's guess how effective he'll be out the gate. If he's 100% and the Falcons are the team people think, there's upside for a 13-4 or 12-5 type of season here. But if he's limited and the Falcons are just average or slightly better, a lot of these matchups turn into coin flips where there isn't much separating 7-10 and 10-7. My Week 1 rating for the Falcons puts them in the same tier as the Bucs, Saints, Seahawks and Chargers, all four of whom Atlanta faces at home and represents in total more than a third of their season. We'll see which way they'll need to be adjusted after watching a few weeks of Cousins.

After the mess at quarterback the last two years, the Falcons stepped up to sign Kirk Cousins to a four-year, $180 million with $100 million guaranteed, then immediately drafted his eventual successor with the eighth overall pick in Michael Penix Jr. This is what happens after watching Marcus Mariota and Desmond Ridder start 30 games for your football team. The addition of Penix prevented the Falcons from using that pick on an immediate difference-maker to help the team reach the next level, but it also put in place an insurance policy if the torn Achilles Cousins suffered last season ends up being more of an issue than expected moving forward. We included both Kyle Pitts and Jonnu Smith on last year's depth chart but expect Robinson to mostly scrap those two-TE looks in favor of having additions both Darnell Mooney and Rondale Moore on the field regularly. An excellent offensive line that kept mostly healthy last year remains intact.
