Per Bovada the Texans over/under win total is 7.5, with the OVER coming in at -160 and the UNDER at +120. 5dimes has the o/u set at 8, with the OVER at EVEN and the under at -120. I'm not sharp by any means but I think a strong case can be made for there to be a mutiny in 2020.
We can start with the AFC Divisional Round game against the Chiefs. A 24-0 lead in the second quarter got erased before halftime. I didn't mind the fake punt call that led to giving KC a short field en route to making it 24-14; I tend to think the grave mistake was being up 21-0, driving relatively deep in Chiefs territory, and kicking a field goal on 4th and inches instead of going for it. Either way, Houston had a big lead, blew it, and lost.
Secondly was trading DeAndre Hopkins to the Cardinals for peanuts. By every account I've seen Hopkins was well-liked in the locker room, and undeniably he was their best skill player. Perhaps worst of all, Deshaun Watson liked him (for obvious reasons). I think trading a second round pick for Brandin Cooks should be considered a neutral move in the locker room, mainly because Cooks is a proven baller when he's healthy, but it's clearly a downgrade from Hopkins and in all likelihood a bonehead front office move. Moral to the story: Bill O'Brien is a decent coach, an awful GM, and he's lost the locker room.
The bet is on a mutiny, that there is distrust between the players and the coach, and that the AFC South is marginally better. Houston's schedule this year includes the NFC North and AFC North, as well as the Chiefs (on the road) and Patriots (at home). I like the UNDER 7.5 at +120, but if you can get it at 8 I like it even better (despite laying the the vig).
