Atlanta Hawks -130 (26-35, 9-24 away) @ Utah Jazz (22-41, 14-16 home)
I recommend a play on the Atlanta Hawks on the moneyline (-130) in the NBA tonight. I also recommend that no one watch this ball game as we have two pretty bad ball clubs in action tonight. I personally feel we have a favorable situation and edge in this game so as I will not be watching, I will have my money on the Hawks to get the outright W. The Jazz come home tonight after a brutal six game road trip that saw them go 1-5 with their only win being against the hideous Philadelphia 76ers. Coming home from a long road trip and with only one day to rest, followers know I love to fade teams in this spot. On the other hand, Atlanta is finishing up a brutal road trip of their own, a road trip that has seen them go 0-5. The Hawks actually have lost 14 out of their last 15 games. So why the hell am I putting my money on them to win tonight? I feel this Atlanta team plays hungry and angry tonight vs a team they have already beaten earlier this year, 118-85. Also Atlanta has a few former Jazz players (Millsap, Carroll, Korver) that will be looking to put on a good show vs their former team. Atlanta is holding onto the final playoff spot in the East (How a team can lose 14 out of 15 and still be in a playoff spot just shows how brutal the Eastern Conference is this year) so they have all the motivation in the world to win, because who doesn’t want to get the 8th seed in the East so they can get spanked by the Heat or Pacers in the first round. (What a shame it is going to be when teams like the Hawks, the Pistons, or even the fuckin Knicks are playing in the playoffs when much more talented and entertaining teams such as the Grizzlies, Suns, Mavericks and TWolves could be sitting at home watching–but that’s a rant for another time and place) The Hawks have won the last three times at Utah, so I don’t buy the whole elevation thing affecting the Hawks negatively. Let’s be clear here, the Hawks are bad, but the Jazz are worse and are in a very unfavorable situation in my opinion. I feel the value is on the Hawks tonight so I am going to hold my nose and make this play and hope for the best as I do fully expect the Atlanta Hawks to go into Utah and come away with the victory which is why I am making the Atlanta Hawks on the moneyline (-130) my NBA Play of the Day.
