In my younger years I made many of $5000 bets .cash $5000 bets ...over 100. ....my biggest bet came in 1984 ...Guidry vs Hurst ...Yanks were at home and they were -150 favorites ...I bet $7500 to win $5000 ..2 hrs before game time ...I had a few more Corona's ..and by game time I bet another $7500 ....on my son's life

This was at the Stardust ...Scotty was the mgr...they had a 5/10 stud game right off to the side of the sportsbook ...I use to like to bet 10 min before game .  They didnt like that ..they always made an attempt to get action both ways + 10 min was not enough time ..they had a guy "Sam Brown" who would take last minute action ...that sat on the sidelines 

"Montana" was running around with a beer in his hand calling the shops with the updates on the games ... on the famous payphones out in front of Stardust ..lol

I also use to pick up 5 lines before I bet ...Stardust ...Silver Slipper ...Caesars ...then go across the street to Little Caesars (Gene Mayday's place ...then back to Riviera then back across the street to Stardust ...Circus Circus dealt a dime line too...I didn't screw around ..lol

I'm not saying that they will win the series ..just this game ...Pacers win outright 

Look for Pascal Siakam, Miles Turner, to have big games ...

Your story about this Montana guy makes me think of Sam Rothstein at the start of Casino..

Anybody that was hanging at the sportsbook in the stardust from 84-89.. knew of him ...he would give the mom + pop shops throughout the country the line changes on the outside payphones ...not a big gambler ..just a legendary character

The Sam Brown guy they said was as good as gold ...I lost 1 bet to him + didn't bet him again ....I believe both bets I made were at stardust ..but I drank myself unconscious...stardust comped my room ...I was a sucker ..for Vegas standards ..so to speak ...
So I woke up the next day .. proceeded to stand behind a pole ..closed one eye ..and squeezed inning by inning ...I won 9-3

I was making $1000 + wk in sales ...I would run my bankroll up to 10m -20m .....75/150 low-ball ... .then off to Vegas ...
I'm stone cold loser ..lifetime ..like most gamblers ...only since 2016 have I booked winning yrs
