Would have won the bet if the actual Tampa back up goalie was playing instead of the third stringer. I had already put the bet in before I found out some minor league goalie would be starting for them.

Sorry my friend, but I thought you said that the goal keeper, is basically irrelevant? That the public and people put to much in to it, and not knowing how to bet? Just sayin, nothing personal against you. Cheers! 

Haha, I said I can’t believe how much importance is put on the goalkeeper. It is just one factor in many things that have to be weighed. This is different than saying it is not important or relevant all together. I think the keeper will definitely contribute bigger weight to a bet if it’s a goalkeeper being called up to make their first career start. This is much different that the regular back up being in there.

For sure, just busting your balls, lol. To bad you couldn't of got to it quick enough to cash it out. Cheers!

I remember the early 1970’s - Handball was the rage and it was hard to get a court. The only way to get a court was to beat the guy who had just won. I would win and defended that court for hours.

Then folks with racquets started dropping by the courts (racquetball). I scoffed at these interlopers. ( meanwhile nursing broken blood vessels in each hand…)

I tried racquetball and never went back to handball ( no more broken blood vessels…)

Fewer and fewer played handball, and now Racquetball became the rage. I became King of Racquetball as folks waiting for the court marveled at my play. The courts became quite crowded with long wait times.

The world turns…. And now it’s Pickle Ball !  No mercy as we send opponents to the back of the line to wait their turn to challenge our team again !

Love it professordonkey, I enjoy the stories the older guys in this forum have. I’m 36 by the way but have always felt I was born in the wrong generation.
I am in the Miami south Florida area but can’t say no to a pickleball challenge, I’ve been to SoCal enough that I’m sure we will be able to get a game together at some point

Why is it called pickleball?
First invented on Bainbridge Island, Washington back in 1965, pickleball was drummed up by three dads trying to keep their kids entertained on a rainy day. Now that’s something we can all relate to! But where did the funny name come from? There are two theories floating around. First, according to Pickleball USA, the wife of one of the founders (aka dads) started calling the game pickleball because the hodge-podge sport reminded her of the motley crew of rowers that would compete in "pickle boat" races at certain universities. The other story claims that the family dog, whose name was Pickles, inspired the name for the game. Cheers!

I like to think, which I think makes the most sense, it’s because most of the game or the strategy of the game is to play at the kitchen line or find your way up to the kitchen line. Once at the kitchen line, assuming the other team is there as well, you typically get into a pickle with the other team… a pickle off so to speak.
