I capped and bet Florida to win this series in six games. I don't see that happening now. Let's look at the brass tack facts ( say that three times fast)
These two clubs have met four times this season, Florida winning all four. Let's look at the goal differential, Florida has scored 17 goals, Edmonton 5. That's an average of 4.25 goals per game vs. 1.25
Which now brings forth the question. Is McDavid and Co. good enough to win a game?, or is Bobrovsky and Co. good enough to shut them out?
Here's my take. In a seven game Cup final series it's almost imperative that you win at least one of the first two games. You don't want to be in the pressure cooker coming back home down 2-0. To say the Oilers are frustrated, stressed and feeling the pressure is an under statement. They have now put themselves in a "must win" position. None of which Florida will be feeling.
Unless he falters, Bobrovsky will win the MVP. In my opinion, Bob has been the best player to date in this series, and frankly, the playoffs. So I hedged my bet and took a futures on Florida sweeping the series. Even if the Oilers manage a win, I will be totally surprised to see this series go beyond five games.
As I've said, and as a Canuck, it would be sweet to see the Oilers bring the cup home. It's been sometime coming and at my age, I haven't got another 31 years to see a Canadian team hoist the Lord Stanley.
