Anaheim Ducks vs. Dallas Stars
Monday night the Ducks head east to the great state of Texas for a Western Conference showdown with the The Stars in the Big D.
Dallas comes out of the All-Star break with 4 games remaining on their extended 8 game home stand. The Stars got off on the right skate with a 4-0 shutout over Arizona. They however dropped the following 3 games before the break. All three of the games resulted in 3-2 OT defeats.
They now find themselves in the midst of an extended home stand well rested a position that has suited them just fine as they are 3-0 this year when playing with 3+ or more days rest. They are also 2-1 via the PL in those games as well.
The Stars are 8-2 the L10 vs. The Ducks. Including 5-0 the L5 at home in the Lone Star State. They outscored Anaheim 21-8 in those 5 games. In those L10 games Dallas has held Anaheim to 2GPG and if you take away a 6 spot they put up in one of those games they have netted a paltry 14 goals in the remaining 9 tilts.
Dallas has the #1 Defense for goals against, in the Western Conference, surrendering 133 goals so far this season leading them to a +40 goal differential, 2nd only to the Boston Bruins in this category. Anaheim on the other hand is a -80 finding themselves at the bottom,13 goals worse than any team I’m the league.
Statistically the Ducks rank 32nd in the league offensively and defensively. That’s LAST. Last in both categories. The Stars on the other hand , rank 2nd in D and 8th in O.
With all of talk of defense you would think I would like the under. But Anaheim has seemed to have found a bit of an offensive groove recently averaging 4GPG with 20 goals in their L5. And I said previously Dallas had averaged 4+ GPG in their L5 home games vs. The Ducks.
I really think this is going to be an offensive explosion from the opening puck drop.
Anaheim does enter the game on a 3 game win streak, but two of those wins came vs. the Arizona Coyotes, not exactly Stanley Cup contender’s.The Ducks probably wished there had been no AS break as they were playing some of their best hockey of the season. Yet prior the 3 wins, they had surrendered 37 goals while going 1-6 in a 7 game stretch.
I think Anaheim returns back to that Duck team and the Stars have a huge night lighting the lamp. The Ducks had been a frequent flyer traveling to 7 different rinks before the break while The Stars were all sleeping at home in their beds.
Well rested to enact revenge for a 2-0 defeat they suffered at the hands of the Ducks in Anaheim December the 4th.
Looking for the Stars to be fully focused from the initial puck drop.
DALLAS in an absolute romp with my LAY THE WOOD 10* GOY
STARS 6-2, though a 5-0 dust up would not surprise me in the least.
