Unfortunately, you have zero chance of collecting through any "legal" avenue. Courts do not get involved in illegal "contracts", etc. If you've been doing this long enough we all have these stories, be happy it was "only" $3500. If I got paid every dollar I have been stiffed of from guys over the last 40 years I could fly around the world and stay in Five Star resorts for the next year. Used to be the price of doing business, to find a Great, Solid guy cost money. Luckily it's no longer an issue, at least for me. Much safer, much easier dealing with the legal route. Only downside is they can/will cut you off if you are truly a winning player. Need to spread the action around, bet a few random NFL, MLB games to keep them happy. Good Luck, hope you get paid. dont spam him with emails. i would figure out his place of work, which tends to be easy these days with the internet, and let him know you know it. politely, tell him that you'll alert them to the situation if he doesn't pay you. let him know payments are fine, cant get blood from a stone. not ideal but anything is better than nothing. That usually will get a change of tone at least and hopefully make some headway. next you say you'll reach out to [wife, mom, dad, family, etc] and mention their names, which are also usually easy to find on the internet. if no budging then actually reach out to them on facebook or whatever and hope the bookie scumbag is capable of feeling shame.

gotcha yeah tougher to collect if he doesnt work. and to be clear, wasnt advocating any kind of threats beyond letting his family know of the situation but i understand that could open a can of worms. shitty spot but it happens. best of luck.

Think I have never had Deadbeats who refused to pay me over 5 decades?

Rule 1. Transactions in person, no online traceable stuff.
Rule 2. Courts will refuse to hear cases of illegal, non-sanctioned "gaming"( you can thank Carlton Fisk, Original Owner of Harrahs of coining the slick, smoothing-over word "gaming").
Rule 3. Never discuss with ANYONE of said money troubles. Write them on paper with much detail in case something happens to YOU and your spouse can hand papers to Law Enforcement.
Rule 4. "Do as I say and not as I do" has its place in the world, especially in this business.
I am lucky to have not one, not two, but Three relatives in Vegas that has the cash to place my bets at Casinos there, and I give them 5 percent of each winning ticket.
Losing tickets? We just collect them for laughs.
If you don't have anyone to do this, do what I did for years: fly SouthWest out of LAX/Burbank and do this yourself.
They were my Proxies for SUPE Contests for years, and if they are not available for a NFL weekend that gives me the excuse to go back to Vegas occasionally. My wife hates Vegas so most of the time I go solo. Clears my head son I can map out betting strategy those weekends.

Rule 5: Don't ever ever ever let a Whiff of trouble touch your lives in this business. Want the Sheriff's Department to tear your house up for 12 hours with no recourse? Want to get a few visits from the FBI to " inquire" about co-workers or others who WILL WILL WILL throw your sorry asses under the bus at the 1st breath of seeing those car lights?
I could care less if all of you think I am full of it because all of the above has happened to me and more, much more. I am sure I am on some Lists somewhere so I am forced to tone everything down. My Eddie Mush is so inept he does not scare us at all; he is in his 70s and when you get our ages you decide that NO jail time is the ONLY option. I can see that many inexperienced youngsters out here right on this Forum have a lot to learn. Never threaten anyone ever. Not for one dollar or 50,000 dollars.
