Only been a member a few years but I’ve seen that a lot of the forum regulars prefer NCAAB, hockey and NBA to MLB. I don’t get it. We all know how long the NBA season is and how the players frequently take nights off because they don’t need to turn it on until the playoffs, where like 80% of the teams make it in. Comical. And since I spent more time this year than any in the past involved with the NHL, gotta say they’re not too far from the NBA attitude. At least the NCAAB is relatively consistent.

IMO, MLB is money. Once the season is broken in and you can see the trends in the players and teams, it’s not too difficult to come out ahead. I don’t know if it’s a generational thing or geographical thing but I’m so curious as to why so few of the great cappers in this forum don’t take advantage of the easiest sport to cap(noob opinion).

I used to feel the same way about MLB Volt. But that was when starting pitchers routinely went 7 or more innings and you just counted on the bullpen for 1 or 2 innings or not at all. Now if a starter last 6 innings it's considered a good start. I just haven't been able to figure out the bullpens ever since they have been counted on to go 3-4 or more innings. In the old days a sure fired way to make money was to bet on a pitcher coming off winning their last 3 or more games in a row. If both teams had a pitcher like that going it was a no play. I'm betting a lot more first 5 inning plays now.

There was some discussion of this in RFTL's post. I think the beginning of the MLB season is a coin flip. To your point VOLT and 100%, when things settle in, especially as we approach the All Star game you have a clearer picture what to expect. Bats are dialed in, weather is warmer and pitchers arms are fatigued. The bullpen is consistently bad. The only variable that stands in the way of betting against bad pitching staffs is the undeniable average hitting skill set of todays MLB player....they suck at traditional hitting. NBA wont touch, NHL a coin flip most nights unless there's a goalie angle, NFL is good after the season settles in and NCAA football can be thorny.

Agreed, Pool. Starting last year I look for F5 plays first, just can’t trust the bullpens.

So true about your takes on the different leagues, Bubba. Only gonna follow WCT on the NBA. He’s got them dialed in. Done with the NHL. Football is a little better than the NBA and NHL but still not as “easy” as the MLB.
