Man I have a million, so I will grant a 3 way tie.
1. Ice Bowl, I was 12 living in Dallas, watched the entire game with
my family, minus my lil bro, a GB fan banned to the B&W TV upstairs.
When Bart sneaked in, that was the closest I ever seen my dad
cry until his own Pops passed. Could write a book on that game.
2. My dad was huge boxing fan, Archie Moore, the Mongoose, and
Carmen Basilio, the Onion Farmer, were his faves, but on March 8th, 1971,
he took me and my 3 brothers to the closed circuit fight ALI/FRAZIER ONE.
It was amazing. Loved it. Still the best fight I ever seen considering
all the factors.
3. I have been blessed to have coached in 8 state titles, we won 5.
The first was the biggest upset ever in WASH PREP HOOPS; we
beat an undefeated MERCER ISLAND team, 58-52, Quin Synder's
alma mater, thou he wasn't quite in HS yet. My best friend
coached with me and sadly got run over in a crosswalk not long
ago and passed. So many memories from that improbable day.
Cannot express how fortunate I have been in my coaching days.
