It was on this date back in 2004 that one of the biggest A-holes in baseballs history hit his 660th career dinger to tie Willie Mays for third on the all time home run list. Let me state right off as a player it is beyond question Barry Bonds was a freakishly talented ball player. He had it all. Good bloodlines for certain as his dad Bobby Bonds was a legit star in his own time. I have zero qualms with the guys skils. After that, well it gets a little sketchy with me. I still personally look at the recently deceased Hank Aaron as the all time champion. But that's just me. Much like I tend to raise an eyebrow and shake of the head to what Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa pulled off. About all either will ever get out of yours truly is a huge WHATEVER! Bonds could have been a hall of famer without the help of chemistry. Too bad he decided to go that route. I guess my opinion was just sealed when he lied about it. As of course others did. It was a dark era for the game. Bonds ended up knocking a gaudy 762 balls out of the park. I would even say most without the help of science. But certainly enough to stain the thing or in the very least take most the shine off it for even his most ardent supporters. I personally do not view Hank Aaron and Barry Bonds in the same light. Actually it's not even close. Being a jerk is one thing. Baseball has had more than it's share with hall of famer Ty Cobb most certainly forever perched atop that list. But the lying and deceit. Well, folks don't tend to forget that sort of thing. Society as a whole does tend to be forgiving. But a sincere apology is always that important first step. Either nobody ever taught that to Barry Bonds or he thought it did not apply to him. Truth likely lies with both cases.
Okay, we cashed the last free one and tonight I am suggesting a small play on the Giants as they host the Reds in for opener of this series out in the Bay. On the business side I have a NBA featured release in play tonight that was just loaded up. Been a strong season in league play as the record to date with all selections stands at 92-47. 66% winners after 139 games.
Good luck this week as always fellas. Enjoy the games.
