and funny you mention the mid 80’s…I was there tonight as I watched the game…when the dodgers win a big game or series it takes me back to HS and the swelling of pride I had when the Dodgers or any of my west coast teams won, being I was the only Cali kid on campus…they called me Mitch or California Bob…when the Dodgers won it all in 88 my bro in law sat in my seat at that game when Gibby hit that HR…I ran around the dorm hooting amd hollering, it was such a huge moment…& although I wished I was there, I was stoked that my bro was able to see that with my parents…I think I’ve told you our seats for 20 years were between Cey and Baker, box level aisle 47, row J…truly an amazing decade to be that age…the music, the sports, the vibe…I try to recreate it all the time with my daughters bc it seems so lonely for them in a way without the ability to utilize their imagination to it’s fullest with that damn phone in their hands all the time…so tonight I called my oldest daughter down to watch the last inning…we each cracked a non alc Heineken and some dodger peanuts that I bought at Ralph’s…they literally say dodgers on the bag and I’m such a sucker for nostalgia, I ate it up…pun intended…good times
And speaking of imagination…some of the best dodger memories were when I would listen to the game on the radio and act out what I was hearing Scully, Doggett and Porter say and I would run the imaginary bases etc in my parents bedroom when I was in elementary school…
