If I were to start my own handicapping service tomorrow, I feel that this title, PISS POOR PICKS, would do justice. My record here at Pregame for Major League Baseball, as we are past the first quarter of the regular season, is a dismal 17-20 for a loss of $760, according to the unit sizes bet here at Pregame. Now, I still love watching the games, but as a handicapper/bettor, my bankroll has taken a significant hit. I just hit another three game losing streak after breaking a three game losing streak by winning two in a row, only to get on a losing track again. I'll tell you, for the past few years when I found the principles of discipline and money management I have been doing pretty good for myself. I bring this up, because this is the first real bad start that I had to a season, especially in baseball, in 6 years and it just brings back bad memories. By this time, I would usually be up close to $1000 but now I am down $760, again according to the monies bet here on Pregame. It is actually substantially more for my own bankroll. I do consider myself overall as a very good handicapper, but right now for the past couple months I absolutely suck.
SPARTAN wrote an interesting thread that I appreciated very much; thank you SPARTAN for doing so. You find yourself coming into these cold streaks every now and again, which is why you always have to practice discipline and money management. If you start chasing, doubling down and dipping into monies that you have earmarked for other things besides sports betting, you are not losing, you have already lost. I had a great NBA and college basketball season, and the NFL and college football were pretty good to me too. So, even though it is not reflected here in the Pregame records my bankroll is still positive. However, the really crappy baseball season that I am having so far is starting to eat away at my profits. So, I just wanted to reiterate what SPARTAN said, because I am going through a little bit of a rut like he is now. These cycles come around from time to time. It is something that you can help, by practicing discipline and money management to help control your situation and not make matters worse.
There are only a few games on the MLB card tonight, and even though I don't have any bets going, I will be tuning into the Diamondbacks-Giants game at 10:00 PM EST as I think this will be a fun series to watch. Until then, I am going to be doing my handicap for tomorrow's games and hopefully will get a winning streak going to begin to make back some of the money that I have lost thus far in the season.
