Hello Everybody,
I just wrote a thread detailing my best bet in the NBA tonight, taking the Spurs at +4.5 against the Warriors, because Pop's wife passed away yesterday, and I think the Spurs will play their hearts out and get a win for her in her memory. I have actually done this quite a few times in my sports betting career, and here is a list of a few of those times that I have done so in recent memory, coming off the top of my head. Has anyone else done anything like this in their sports betting career? Please feel free to share your bets and thoughts to this approach.
LA LAKERS +3.5 vs. Utah; this was Kobe Bryant's last game, and he went off for 67 points. I doubled up and made a good amount of money on this bet. If I recall correctly, it opened up at Lakers +6.5, and I think the Jazz needed to win this game to make the playoffs, but I could be wrong.
Oakland +5.0 vs. Houston; the Raiders won outright in this game with the passing of Al Davis. I can't remember exactly, but liked another game as my best bet, and had a rare two best bet NFL Sunday.
Tampa Bay vs. New York Yankees-135; this is where Derek Jeter scored his 3000th hit which was a home run and that lovely fan gave the ball back to him asking for nothing in return, although the Yankees gave him a lot of concessions. I doubled up on this bet and made a nice profit. Jeter was three hits away from accomplishing this feat and I thought that would be the game; I'm pretty sure it was three hits.
Carolina vs. Denver +5.5 bought up to +6.0 in the super bowl; Peyton Manning's last game was the key handicap for me in this one. I doubled up on the spread, took the Broncos money line for a smaller wager.
Philadelphia vs. New England-most recent Super Bowl; here is where I had something that I like to call my TRIPLE THREAT ATTACK ON THE SUPERBOWL. Doubled up on the over points, and took Philadelphia on the point spread and money line. I did this because Brady won MVP, and Patricia and McDaniels both got hired on as head coaches which I think is a curse; and we all know McDaniels backed out.
Baltimore vs. San Francisco Super Bowl: a triple threat attack on the super bowl where I doubled up on the Ravens +4.0 bought up to +4.5, the Ravens money line and lost on the under in the game; did this because Ray Lewis was retiring.
I'm pretty sure I have at least a baker's dozen or so more of these situational handicaps, but these are the biggest and best ones that come to mind, and I mostly win these, and hopefully that carries on tonight with the Spurs covering the spread. Nice for them to win, but it is all about the spread here in this game, for me as a sports bettor at least.
