The attempts to govern our unseemly behavior patterns will always fail.
The latest attempt to ban online gambling is nothing more than another pitiful stab at our personal freedom. Its something the establishment has done for years.
Sure. Everything has a tendency to get a little out of control. Take the simple act of Sex. Its really, damn hard to control procreation and prostitution but thats exactly what the church, and later, the government has tried to do.
Alot of good it did!
Im sure that Planned Parenthood was sorely needed long before the inception of its previous incarnations (National Birth Control League/American Birth Control League). People were screwing like crazy! Especially back in the day.
When Captain Cook visited Tonga in 1777, he met King Fatafehi Paulah. The King had the responsibility of deflowering ALL of the girls in his kingdom. It was estimated that he deflowered 37,000 girls during his lifetime.
The average length of time between penetration and orgasm for a man is 7.3 minutes, so he was spending 4,502 hours making whoopee (and that was just his obligatory collisions!) There might have been a severe need for Planned Parenthood back then. Ill give you that. Maybe some regulation would have given the poor guy a break.
But what about now? Amid all the regulation theyre still screwing like rabbits. Consider Englishman Sean Stewart. He became the youngest documented father in 1998 at the age of 12. And dont forget about the legendary exploits of Wilt Chamberlain and Magic Johnson. How many kids has Andruw Jones fathered? Come on! Are we any better off in this regulated atmosphere?
And unregulated sex is good for you anyway! According to experts, the more sex you have, the more sex you are likely to be offered. Thats because the sexually active body gives off greater quantities of pheromones. The same experts claim that sex is about 10 times more effective than Valium as a tranquilizer. Sex relieves headaches. Lovemaking can release the tension that restricts blood vessels in the brain. Its a tranquilizer!
Im sure King Fatafehi Paulah would beg to differ. ;)
So would Russian peasant Mrs. Vassilyev: Between 1725 and 1765 she gave birth to 69 children. Two died in infancy.
Its hypocritical to believe that you can effectively regulate human behavior. You couldnt regulate Casanova.
I liken the Republican Right to Casanova.
Like a number of our great representatives, Casanova led a daring lifestyle that netted him an enormous amount of chicks. He also netted a number of venereal diseases along with the pox, Celtic Humors, and frequent nose bleeds (cured by a witch, by the way.).
But what you didnt know is that he was also a member of the clergy and, on top of that, he became a millionaire when he introduced the National Lottery to France in 1757. What a politician!
I can only imagine that he would be against Internet Gambling as well. Its immoral after all.
And what about getting back our fictitious moral roots? Has anyone seen Deadwood! And what about the king of the Playboy empire? Hugh Hefner's ancestors actually came over on the Mayflower. Its true.
Sex cannot be banned by the government!
The government cannot ban our will to gamble either.
The revenue generated from gambling is more than the revenue that comes from movies, cruise ships, recorded music, theme parks, and spectator sports COMBINED.
Like sex, procreation and alcoholism, gambling cannot be banned.
You cannot stop Vegaskiller, Mr. Illuminati, or Johnny Detroit from doing what they feel compelled to do. You cant stop Skillz, Goodfellas, or any single minded American from extinguishing their desire to wager.
Apparently you can stop some people from having sex. Fifteen percent of cell phone users in the U.S. say they have interrupted sex to take a call.
Planned Parenthood? Take notes.
Government: Leave us alone.
Just my two cents,
