My reason for 2025 Heisman Winner = John Mateer
OK it's probably a shocker of a pick, but last season OU were quite good in Defence and pretty bad in offence which is confusing me a bit with the Auburn team this season, considering they now have the QB from OU. Anyway OU got a new OC from WASH and he has brought the QB with him. So new offence to go with the def is giving me confidence the OU will do better this time around. Now look at OU's schedule.

2. Oklahoma Sooners 2nd toughest SEC football schedules in 2025, by SPORT24/7
2025 Schedule: Illinois State, Michigan, at Temple, Auburn, Kent State, Texas, at South Carolina, Ole Miss, at Tennessee, at Alabama, Missouri, LSU
Oklahoma went 2-6 in conference play during its first season in the conference and has an even tougher schedule in 2025. There's the Week 2 matchup against Michigan before a trio of winnable games bleeds into six straight matchups against 2024-ranked teams. The Sooners face LSU in the regular season finale. The Tigers won the 2024 matchup by 20 points.
Early projection: 9-3, 5-3

I'm thinking if OU come out of the gates fast, which they will have to. they should beat Illinois State, at Temple, Kent State,
They have Mich at home on W2 and Auburn at home on W4, then they have a bye week, they host Kent st before the Red River game with Texas, So OU could be 5 - 0 going into the Red River. Texas will have played Florida the week before facing OU. If this happens John Mateer name will start to be mentioned, hence the books cut him from 3300 to 1800, and with the total 6.5 being unbackable, books expect OU to show up this year and their QB will be at the fore-front of that. That's my reason for my pick.
