Line has now moved to Georgia -3, total is 52.5. Georgia comes into this game with a chip on their shoulder, unlike the last time they met in the SEC Championship game. Alabama came into the game with a chip on their shoulder after lackluster showings against LSU and Auburn, plus the fact that Georgia was being touted as one of the greatest defenses in CFB history.
Georgia was getting all the ink and the press was all over Athens telling them how great they were, as Nick Saban calls it "Rat Poison". I for one thought that Georgia would handle Alabama easily. Boy was I wrong. They gave a lackluster performance on defense. They never blitzed, never rushed more than four defenders. Bryce Young who is one of the most accurate collegiate passers that I have ever seen was getting plenty of time to find his open receiver, which against LSU and Auburn he was scrambling for his life, rushing his throws to receivers that were not open.
Alabama has a young offensive line, when they are seniors they will be an elite unit. Georgia has a veteran athletic front seven who wreak havoc on and disrupt opposing offenses. Alabama will be without wide receiver John Metchie III, Jameson Williams will be their only deep threat. Alabama will try to establish the run and set up play-action passing. Georgia front seven will stop the run.
Look for an old fashion SEC smash mouth football game, as Keith Jackson used to say a slobber knocker. Low scoring game. Georgia prevails 27-13.
