602 Gonzaga (-15.5) over Auburn
In their matchup against Kansas yesterday Gonzaga proved why they’re deserving of being ranked number 1 in the country. Against the 6th ranked team in the country that’s one of the best defensive teams in college basketball with the reigning Defensive Player of the Year in Michael Garrett, the Bulldogs put up 102 points while shooting less than 35% from 3 and having 3 guys score more than 20 points in Drew Timme, Corey Kispert and top ranked freshmen Jalen Suggs. Suggs had an impressive stat line with 24 points 4 rebounds and 8 assists living up to his hype coming into the season but what was even more impressive was he did all this in just 24 minutes of play as he dealt with some early foul trouble in the first half. Now the Zags will face an inexperienced Auburn Tigers team that’s replacing their entire starting 5 from last year. Auburn had a nice recruiting class coming in this year led by Shariffe Cooper but he didn’t make the trip to Florida as he waiting on the outcome of his eligibility and to make matters worse the Tigers have to deal with the number one team in the country very early in the morning and coming off a hard fought win over St. Joseph’s that needed overtime.
