On a nice 9-6 run on these write ups, let make it 10-6.
Campbell @ Presbyterian (+2, 130)
Last 2-years Campbell is 3-1 SU with the lone loss coming @ Presbyterian. Starting in 2012, Campbell is 12-4 SU, they have owned this team since 2012. Campbell is currently 11-7 while Presbyterian is 7-11. Presbyterian is a very bad road team and they are a putrid home team; they are rated #341 at home. Campbell goes from a very bad home team to slightly below average road team, they are rated #169. Campbell has a 60%-win rate on the road while Presbyterian is 40% at home putting up 66.6ppg and allowing 74.4 ppg. That’s awful.
Neither team is good at putting up points, both are ranked 230+ in scoring offense and Presbyterian is 300+, that’s bottom 50 territory. Campbell is a good scoring defense rated in top 90 while Presbyterian is bad with a rating of 230+.
Campbell likes to shoot from the field, they are rated top 100 while Presbyterian is near 200 in FG defense. This is how the game will be won by Campbell. Another area of concern for Presbyterian is their atrocious 3PT defense, they are rated #300. Campbell is below average in 3PT% but they are average in 3PT per game/3PT attempts. I expect Campbell to take more 3s than usual because of bad defense against them. FT%, Campbell hits their shots, they are top 70 while Presbyterian is near 200. Presbyterian won’t be much of a threat at FT line.
Assists, Campbell likes to assist which means more points. Campbell is near top 60 in APG and top 90 in total assists. Presbyterian isn’t top 230 in APG and very below average in total assists. This is a big stat gap in favor of Campbell.
Campbell is near elite level in turnovers forced and total steals, both rated top 40. Presbyterian is atrocious in both. To make it better for Campbell, Presbyterian turns it over a lot, rated near 220 in fewest turnovers and 230+ in turnovers per game.
Campbell is the far superior defense, better offense, and a past history of dominating this team. I will lay the -2. The only concern is rebounding, Campbell is bottom 50 but Presbyterian isn’t much better themselves. Campbell will have their way with this team from the field and 3PT line and rebounds won’t be an issue.
In terms of the total, 130 sounds about right to me. If I had to pick a side, I would lean over but nothing official. I am going Campbell wins 72-65.
