Solid Wed. 9-5 night Took a few tough losses, but most of the winners were no sweat so that made it feel a bit better. Siena was brutal getting six and not covering through 3 overtimes. Bama State covered 38 of the 40 minutes against Tenn. first half would have been an easy winner damn it. Drexel shot the best from 3 all season long and Bryant only hit 1 all game. Bryant lost by 12, but made multiple runs to hang in the whole game. Lost BYU in overtime, they missed a bunny layup to take the lead with 30 secs left in reg. The closers didn't close, they must have been gassed from the Houston game before. Getting in early on the capping for Thursday and I have the time to post.
Wash State -7...Nebraska Omaha has been dominated by inside scorers all season. I don't usually cap based on one player, but Wash State has a bad ass on the inside that should control this game. Wash State's coach should realize this weakness. Enjoy the easy 2s all night long and Nebraska Omaha will have to hit a bunch of 3s to hang in this one, which WSU has defended well 24%.
Tulane first half, will play +6 or higher...Tulane has a sneaky good team this year. It is almost all transfers and they are solid. I am not basing it off of their weak ass wins. I hit them pretty big versus Northwestern State at 11 and they covered with ease. Mississippi state seems to be getting lines like they still have last years team. They are gonna need time, all of their guards are really young and they are without Weatherspoon, not the sparkplug Weatherspoon, he graduated, but this one is the lone upperclassmen starting guard.
Wofford ML will play +130 or higher...USF is sloppy as ****, it is like watching giant 7 year old's play basketball. They turn the ball over, they can't shoot, and they can't shoot FT. USF lost a lot of games last year because they couldn't make the FTs. It hasn't started any better this year. The only way they win games is getting a shit ton of FT chances and athletic ability on the boards. I am taking the team that rarely turns the ball over, hits the free ones, and is used to winning ball games coming off of back to back out classed losses.
Wyoming -1...ULL never plays in altitude. They play most of their games below sea level. They are a team that likes to run too, if they are smart, they take it easy early so they have some wind at the end of the game. They don't run a deep rotation either, just 8 so far this season because of some early season injuries. If ULL is up at half or if Wyoming is up just 5 or less at half, I will be on Wyoming 2nd half again. ULL isn't expected to be much this year. Yes, Wyoming was terrible last year, but damn near the entire team was injured and they relied on one man to score. This year is gonna be more middle of the pack in the mountain west.
WMU/Stanford Over 141.5...WMU has a guy that can't be stopped scoring, an all around big man who will play professional ball after college. NBA or Overseas if he chooses. WMU doesn't play a whole lot of D as they have done every year. Both teams aren't run and gun, but they are good on offense. Each team in the top 60 in off. eff. Each are banging the 3 well this season and they shoot FTs above 70%. I have lost overs in the past watching a zillion misses from the line and I lose by a bucket, it is frustrating. At least I know the free misses won't be the reason this time around. I also lean WMU getting 10, this line is inflated due to Stanford's soft ass schedule blowouts. I think it would be a nice double bet as I see WMU getting 66 points no problem.
UCLA -12...Cronin has them playing defense. They still are a bit raw on offense, but they have multiple scorers and they rebound really well. Hofstra doesn't do rebounding. They fire up 3s and run. Cronin does let them run at times, but for the most part, he is making them play defense and run a solid offense to see what he has. He has Ali playing so much better fundamentally, he doesn't seem to be playing for flash and himself anymore. He is focused on defense and shooting FTs better. Cronin has already turned this team around, he deserved this job and is one of the best coaches in the nation. The shortest coach is one of the best basketball coaches, **** yeah, I love it. Hofstra won't get the shootout they want and instead should get grinded down and UCLA will find easy buckets because Hofstra doesn't play defense. One last thing, last year UCLA turned their opponent 14% of the time, this year all ready Cronin has them up to 21%. The other team is playing longer into the shot clock, making more passes than last year and taking worse shots. Lastly, Hofstra lost to SJSU, red flag.
