619 Texas Tech/Kansas State Over 119
Unstoppable force meets immovable object. This only went over this number last time due to what could only be described as a ludicrous 14 or something points in the final minute. That was a pair of very different teams, however, despite the pretty short time span between the 2 contests. Texas Tech is reeling and 2 straight losses have dropped them behind the (still Azubuike-less) Jayhawks and into a tie for second with their hosts tonight.
Kansas State hasn't lost since losing in Lubbock and have looked very much the part of the favorite to win the league since that loss, especially on the defensive side of the ball...and featuring the senior leadership many frontrunners lack nowadays.
Hard to look past the fact both teams need this game like blood, neither has a look ahead spot possibility, and average on offense a combined 135 points. Tech boasts the best defense EFG% wise but has trended downward and allowed an average of 71 in the 2 straight losses. State also looks like a dead nut Under team, but even the slugfest against TCU looked ridiculously low...but even eclipsed tonight's total.
In a battle of 2 good to great defenses, at this number I like the offenses to be the key late in such a contest. The first half may even be a feel out slow slog, but 48 in the first followed by 75 in the second would be very possible...and close late expect free throws.
May have more plays later....and this will likely trend upward maybe quickly.
