Carlos Rodon sure didn’t have it this afternonn, but so far that was my only afternoon loser so far, but the Brewers are also down in the 8th. The Blue Jays won their 1st 5 and full game MLSs and the Dbacks won their 1st 5 ML.
Here is the early evening game. I’ll post the two 10 PM games later.
DET @ CLEV

Edge – DET
Conclusion: The Tigers are the clearly better team here and hold all the edges. First, they are the much better hitting team, average almost a run and a half more per game than the Guardians with a 38-point better wOBA and 26-point better wRC+. S;thpugh it’s a closer matchup, the Tigers also have the better bullpen with a beter WHIP, ERA and BA against than the Guardians. That brings us to the two starting pitchers and the Tigers should have an edge there as well.
Casey Mise has now started 14 gaames for the Tigers with 9 grading as above average and 5 grading as below. His stat profile with a decent 1.1 WHIP and excellent 2.86 ERA along with a 69/19 K/BB ratio over 78.2 inning is very good. Mize beat the Twins 10-5 on Saturday, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits and a walk over 6.2 innings and striking out 5. The Tigers' offense was relentless in that game, putting at least 1 run on the board in 7 straight innings as part of a 15-hit, 4 HR attack, giving Mize more than enough of a cushion. The quality start was Mize’s 5th of the season, and since coming off the IL in late May, the right-hander has given up 3 runs or less in 7 straight starts.
Logan Allen has now started 15 games with more below average starts (8) than above average ones (6). His stat profile, headed by a high 1,39 HIP and mediocre 4.21 ERA, leaves a lot to be desired with equally mediocre ERA metrics, above league average wOBA and xwOBA anda and a modest 60/34 K/BB rati over 78 innings.
Allen was beaten on Sunday by the Cardinals, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks over 6 innings with 6 Ks. Allen found himself in trouble right out of the gate in the 1st, giving up a walk and a single followed by a three-run HR. Allen eventually settled in and blanked the Cards over his final five innings, logging making it a a quality start, but the Guardians failed to provide any run support in an eventual 7-0 loss.
The Tigers have all the edges in this one.
Pick – DET 1st 5 and full game MLs.
