For what it's worth and tonight that might not be much. I’m obviously taking a big risk with such a huge parlay card, but I really like these games. Heree’s my huge Wednesday card.
I didn’t domy usual breakdowns of the games today and I’m not going to. I just didn’t have the time. Here is a little of my thinking on why I’m using these particular games and why I like a particular team.
The afternoon games were a mixed bag. The Cards, usually a very good hitting team, got beeat because they couldn’t hit Mitch Keller. Keller’s stats were probably better than they looked, considering haw bad the Pirate have been.
In the Tigers/Nats game I was betting on the better team and against Trevor Williams and I was right. The Tigers jumped all over Williams and won in a rout.
On to tonight’s packed schedule.
SD @ PHIL (Game 2)
I didn’t bet the 1st game because I didn’t trust Mick Abel, and the Padres jumped all over him. Tonight, it’s Dylan Cease v Christopher Sanchez and they’re both quality starting pitchers, but Cease has been more inconsistent than Sanchez, who has the better stat profile. The Phils also hit better. I say they bounce back in the nightcap.
Pick – PHIL 1st 5 and full game MLs.
DET @ WASH (game 2)
I bet the Tigers full game this afternoon and it cashed esily. The Tigers still have moost of the edges, but the starting pitching edge goes to the Nats with MacKenzie Gore facing Jack Flaherty. Gore has been much Flarty has been very inconsistent. better so far this season and he’s doing it with a last place team. Flaherty has been much more inconsistent. I’ll take my chances with the lousier team, but better starting pither for five innings.
Pick – WASH 1st 5 ML
NIL @ NYM
The Brewers beat the Mets this afternoon, but I didn’t bet the game. I am betting on this one. It’s the highly touted Jake Misiorowski v Hunter Brazoban Blake Tidwell and that looks like a mismatch to me. Misiorowski has pitcher well for the Brewers in each of his starts and the Mets have never faced him. Brazoban will most likely serve as an opener and won’t go more than an inning or two. He hasn’t shown me much and the Mets are struggling big time, while the Brewers are playing well right now.
Pick – MIL 1st 5 ML
CLEV @ CHI
This game pits Tanner Bibee v Shota Imanaga. The Cubs are better than the Guardians and specifically, they hit a hell of a lot better. The starting pitching matchup is close but Imanaga looked sharp in his first start since coming off the IL. I’m betting on the better team here.
Pick – CHI C 1st 5 and full game MLs
BALT @ TEX
The Rangers won easily behind another fine outing from Jacob deGrom last night. Tonight, it’s Tomoyuki Sugano v Nathan Eovaldi. Eovaldi wasn’t sharp in his first start since coming off the IL, but he was having a fine season until hitting the IL. Sugano has been, at best mediocre. I’m expecting a better outing from Eovaldi tonight, but I doon;t trust the Rangers to score runs.
Pick – TEX 1st 5 ML
HOU @ COL
The Astros will start Hunter Brown, who is having a Cy Young worthy season and he will face the worst team in baseball, the Rockies. The Rockies will counter will Austin Gomber, who isn’t very good. Tha Astros are a hell of a lot better than the Rockies and Brown v Gomber is a joke.
Pick – HOU 1st 5 and full game MLs
KC @ SEA
Noah Cameron will face of with Logan Gilbert in this one. Ameron has pitched decently, but has struggled when matched up against the better teams in the league. Gilbert is having another stellar season. The Mariners also ht a lot better than the offensively challenged A’s.
Pick – SLogsamEA 1st 5 and full game MLS
SF @ ARIZ
Landon Roupp will face Merrill Kelly in this one. Roup has mostly struggled this season, while Kelley has pitched very well after a slow start. The Diamndbacks are also the much better hitting team here.
Pick – ARIZ 1st 5 and full game MLs
CHI WS @ LAD
The Dodgers are obviously the much better team here and it’s not close. Brandon Eisen will serve as the White Sox opener tonight. He won’t be in there long and the state say tha the Dodgers could score some runs off him. After all, they are the best hitting team in baseball. The Dodgers will counter with vet Claytomn Kershaw, who’s been on a roll lately. This one shouldn’t be close
Pick – LAD 1st 5 and full game ML/
