Mr. Callmaker:  Thank you for your feedback.  Unfortunately, I am not a sports gambler.  Instead, I invest in angles where a decided advantage is identified.  Such angles do not grow like lemons on a tree.  If that were the case, nobody would have a reason to have a profession, when instead we could simply just roll off of the couch, scratch our nuts, pop a cold one, and pick all the favorites in a parlay, and then rinse and repeat for eternity.  Easy-peasy.

This is why over 95% of all sports gamblers lose.  The secret is PATIENCE & RESTRAINT when managing your bankroll.  I did not decide to share angles with the brethren for my ego or to show-off.  In my line of work I deal with a lot of reallllly bad situations that I need to fix.  More often than not, these situations are created by very poor choices made by men whose problems originated from gambling on the ponies, sports, or "friendly poker games."  I have seen many beautiful families destroyed by men's gambling habits. So I figured that if I could help just one fellow brother better understand how to organize his thoughts, manage his bankroll, I will have done my solid for our effffed up society.

I have, and will in the future, impart angles that provide a decided edge.  Don't confuse that with giving you a "winning the number" lock. They are mutually exclusive matters. To win an angle, often takes some luck, some angles more than others.  This is the nature of the beast. Case and point...Yesterday I gave you an F5 total and provided you the logic.  I also shared that Yamamoto was due for his inevitable "bad game."  This is how angles work.  They are not guarantees.  They are angles.  YOU must then leverage the knowledge as you see fit and within the parameters of your bankroll.  There are peeps here that are comfortable dropping some serious scratch on their angles.  Believe me you, this did not happen overnight for them.  And while we all have unique ways of finding our angles, we all have one thing in common, we know how to manage our bankroll's.  

I'll leave you with this... Professional, successful gamblers, rarely part with their bankrolls.  They are verrry judicious on how they attack the market.  In fact, the average ROI for a professional sports bettor can vary widely depending on the individual’s skill level, strategy, sport, and overall market conditions. However, in general, a “good” ROI for a professional sports bettor is typically in the range of 2% to 5%.  Anything above 5% is very rare and would typically indicate exceptional skill, an edge in a particular market, or an advantage in finding inefficiencies that the broader betting community hasn’t noticed. These bettors may use advanced models, statistical analysis, or have insider information to generate their edge.

Blue Horseshoe's Midnight Update:

First let's take care of some accounting... Posted a DEFCON 2 on an in-game angle on the A's for the win.  Uuuuh, yeah sure.  And that's why bank roll management is paramount to success.  A half unit loss should NEVER kill your buzz, nor your bank.  So the angle was on the under believe it or not.  My data suggested that the over of 10.5 was a bit rich.  So using this angle, I extrapolated the following logic:  5-4 or 6-4 game.  I trust the A's bullpen more than I do the Yankers.  The A's position player offensive capabilities are not shabby.  Warren can have serious control issues.  So I was banking on the blue to have a tight strike zone, squeezing Warren, forcing him to throw more fastballs for strikes, and counting on one of the A's boppers to hit a two run jack to put the game away.  This is how I handicap.  I get the angle and then create a narrative.  I then check the narrative against the Vegas line.  As I watched this game during the first two innings, every time Yankees had traffic on the bases, the total line did not budge.  As a matter of fact, it actually was at 7.5 prior to the 5th inning.  Even after the Yankees put up a quick two, the total was staying put.  This is when I decided to drop a little pizza money on the A's based on the narrative described above that it would be a 5-4 / 6-4 game.  What I failed to account for, and this was a brain fart on my end, will not happen again this season, is that favorites were getting clobbered on the card by the midpoint of the afternoon/evening. I believe that when I posted the DEFCON 2, favorites had won only two games out of eight games counting up to the BOS/KC game.  With seven games left on the slate, the statistical probability that favorites would break even on the last seven games had a less than 50% probability, and since the Yanks were the last game on the card, statistically the Yanks were the correct side.  

Luck.  If you watched the MIL/TB game, TB was lucky to pull out the win.  MIL was the correct side but the boys from Milwaukee forgot to bring their gloves to the game and committed three errors.  Three unforced errors committed in a game is an anomaly, an uncommon event.  In Milwaukee's case, it cost them two runs, in other words, the game.  Vegas cleaned house on the MIL/PHI/ATL/MIA/WAS/BOS games.  My algorithm had flagged the PHI/CLE game, but I got too caught up fixing a problem that I wasn't able to benefit nor share the angle.  WAS & MIL were surprises to me, especially MIL.  That's why I don't gamble.  I find angles and play statistical probabilities.  Done in volume, it works out just fine, especially when you can capture lightning in a bottle and pocket a juicy in-game SUPER FAT moneyline (very common live in-game in NHL Hockey) as I did with the Dodgers in the 8th inning.

Looking at tomorrow, here is my DEFCON previews:

The above referenced games mean that the algorithm has flagged an edge that needs to be further personally developed.  I like to wait to see the morning pre-game betting lines so that I can better read the tea leave clues the book convey that permit me to confirm, or discard, my projected narratives.  Bullpens got gassed a bit yesterday, so it's going to be interesting to see how the books set their game totals. Of particular interest will be how the books position the total for the MIL/TB & the HOU/CIN game.  True sharps should already have a beat on what our edge could be.  The tale of the tape is going to be how the book decides to price some of the key totals the algorithm has flagged.

There are several angles that have a shot to become DEFCON 2 or DEFCON 1 picks.  The morning lines will tell the story.  Time to hit a Cuban stick with some bourbon on the rocks.  'Night gents.

Good afternoon mates.  Hope y'all made it home safe last night without any "mysterious" dents or god forbid deer antlers sticking out of the hood of your sled.  No drama from da baby mama, and most definitely not from your goomar.

Let's get to it.

Let's jump right into the meat & "poh - ta - toes..."

DEFCON 4 & 5:  The dogs had some bite last night, sharp doggies (STL/CLE/CHW/TB/KC) going 5-0, and square dogs (CHI/LAD) going 1-1.  Do we have another barking dog day?  The tea leaves don't support it so be careful with the big square dogs of the day such as CHW ("Ooooh look it's Shane Smith, he's good, Marlins suck, let me lay my mortgage payment"), SF (  : Webb is not a #1 arm away from the 'ol Candlestick), CHI (Kinda like the angle on this, since CHI is going with a straight bullpen game, and historically, this makes it difficult for position players to have an edge in their 3rd at bats as is the per usual. The challenge is what bullpen are we getting today?  CHI's bullpen is a Jekyll & Hyde affair) and KC (Note: I do like some things about KC today, perhaps the F5 total?)

DEFCON #3:   "Sharp cheddar" dogs the algorithm flagged include MIN/WAS/MIL/CIN/TOR.  It's hot as fvck in the Arizona desert today, and I assume the roof will be open, and with the wind blowing out enough to influence ball distance, the favorability of an over influences looking at some props, and the total of course (Note: BOTH bullpens were tapped significantly after last nights run parade).  But be careful on the LAD/ARI total since both SP's are GB inducers.  

DEFCON 2: Still crunching data, but at present it's suggesting that TOR get some love.  It's 5th SP caliber Bowden Francis, but the wily vet knows how to pitch; throws a volume of strikes (pitches to contact), and has above league average command.  The downside is he is prone to the bomb and SEA is ranked in the upper tier in slugging pct. and bombs and their is a bit of a jet stream blowing out tonight at Safeco... Yikes...  

CIN is another dog that data suggests warrants some love.  Personally, I had CIN circled on my card last night.  Angles I love to hunt for include teams that can MANUFACTURE runs, aka can steal bases.  CIN is ranked in the top 10 in runs scored, but only 14th in bombs, despite playing at bandbox Comerica Field.  So how are they scoring their runs when they are ranked in the bottom third of the league for batting average?   Walks, and manufacturing runs my dear Watson .  Mind you, if Yainier Diaz gets the start at catching, he is a very solid catcher in throwing out runners, BUT that is usually predicated by the SP and McCullers is a "soft ****" prone to giving free passes.  Still breaking this angle down, but it does merit a consideration as a lean at the very least.

Algorithm has MIN on the radar, but a few key variables are not lining up to take off the rubber band.

Perhaps the angle that has the best chance to go DEFCON 1 is in the WAS/STL game.  Trevor Williams is a fringe 5th/4th SP caliber, with solid control and grounball inducing pitch repertoire. The middle of WAS's bullpen is gassed, so that's a thing, and in general you should not be trusting WAS bullpen to win you scratch.  But STL on the road for two straight wins and seven wins in a row in total?  Yup, you guessed it, not statistically probable.  But the algorithm is flagging some negative regression to the mean for STL's bullpen.  Hmmmm...

DEFCON 1:  Nothing as of yet.  Paaaaatience and bankroll management is the PRIORITY.

Well there it is.  Will not usually have so much time on hand to lay out this much nuance, nor do you probably care to read it anyway, but when I can, I think it's important to share a bit about the process.  Let's see what the evening brings.

DEFCON 2 SELECTION:

5-10-2025 - WAS ML @ +100 (No bet beyond -103)  0.25 units

Narrative: So were hoping luck is on our side regarding the WAS bullpen.  The middle of the bullpen is shot, so Williams has been told by pitching staff that they need a strong start, ideally 6 innings.  STL is on a HEATER, winning SIX in a row.  Two fringy #5 SP's going at it, but STL's SP is prone to absolutely losing control of the strike zone.  He IS NOT due for a negative regression to the mean, quite the contrary, he is actually projected by the algorithm to pitch BETTER than Williams. A marginal lean, but a lean nevertheless.

5-10-2025 - ATL SP u 15.5 outs @ -145 (No bet beyond -155)  0.5 units

Narrative: Flyball pitcher, with a penchant for losing the strike zone quickly.  Algorithm flags a NEGATIVE regression to the mean.  You may want to consider PIT F5 ML or F5 +0.5 as well, possibly in game if ATL goes up early.

LADY LUCK....

So I am taking in the ATL/PIT game, and Lady Luck is jabbing her finger in the algorithm's eye.  So, AJ Smith-Shawver is flagged for negative regression. As sure as the sun sets in the evening, the blue behind the plate did not get this season's memo about the new tighter strike zone.  Now in the second inning, efffin' blue has gifted AJ five borderline calls.  FIVE!  This is now forcing PIT batters to "protect" the zone and swing at ball fours on three occasions on 3-2 counts.  And if that weren't bad enough for PIT, PIT's RF'er has misplaced two balls hit to him for doubles.  Both were catchable, but apparently the local syndicate is covering the RF'er's mortgage payment this month, because he inexplicably "lost the ball."  Official scorer delayed tallying for a hit for half an inning, so that kinda tells you how catcheable one of the balls was.  Sure enough, the second hitter that benefitted from the "lost ball uh-oh", comes into to score.  LOL... Announcers are now mocking PIT's RF'er when he actually catches a fly ball.  Can't make this sh1t up.  

Moral of the story:  Lady Luck is a thing.  Luck does ebb and flow.  And BANKROLL MANAGEMENT is king amigos.

The upside is that there is an opportunity now that gives us a slight edge to invest in F5 PIT ML, especially after the BOMB in the 3rd inning...

UPDATE 3:54pm EST:

So in the ATL/PIT game (yes, I am watching this game to sniper some in game-opps dut to algorithm's negative regression flags) the blue FINALLY got the memo and is now squeezing AJ... And of course, balance returns to the game, and PIT get's their first run, and are on track to run AJ by the 5th inning... The algorithm can truly be a beast.  Love it!

I am going to use the following wrap up for the F5 of the ATL/PIT affair to provide some suggested guidance on how you should consider employing the algorithm.  I do not recommend "picks."  I recommend a buy-in on an angle.  It's your job to figure out based on your risk tolerance, your bank management, and the lines available to you, what line gives you the best return for YOUR situation.  Yes, I will also share picks I invest in, but MY bankroll management is much different than yours, so what I lay down makes sense to my situation, not necessarily yours.  Let's break this baby down.... 

So here is the box score for AJ:

• Total pitch count: Smith-Shawver 97/59
• First-pitch strikes/Batters Faced: Smith-Shawver 11/24
• Called strikes-Swinging strikes-Foul balls-In play strikes:  Smith-Shawver-15-13-16-15
• Ground Balls-Fly Balls:  Smith-Shawver 4-6

An absolute maxim of pitching:

A significant portion of this overall strike percentage is attributed to first-pitch strikes, which are crucial in dictating the tone to a batter. In the MLB, approximately 57% of pitches thrown are first-pitch strikes.

In today's game, AJ threw 46% of his first pitches for strikes.  The algorithm was correct about a negative regression and by association the angle identified was also correct.  But our number did not come home?  Why!??!?!? 

Simply put, AJ was pulled two outs INTO the 6th inning.  The investment called for him being pulled at the START of the sixth inning.  We did miss our target, but not due to bad logic.  Lady luck, ripped our heart out.  The original logic was that the blue has a rep for a very stingy strike zone, yet on more than a handful of occasions he turned sure AJ walks, into second chances for AJ.  This onto itself actually benefited our chosen line, higher pitch count, higher pitch count more fatigue, more fatigue gets you pulled sooner. But it also means that the if the batters on the receiving end of so many close calls not going their way, they HAVE TO expand their strike zones.  This actually happened and helped AJ because he had two innings where he threw less than ten pitches.  This was NOT GOOD for our investment.  Things got so bad with the blue's inconsistent strike zone that benefitted ATL, that PIT's manager was eventually thrown out of the game for precisely this unbalance; AJ getting a verrrrrry generous strike zone and Heaney getting jammed in his brown eye.  

So. Bad pick? Nope.  Algorithm has it's head up it's @ss? Perhaps.  But the reality is that Lady Luck ripped out our heart as AJ was pulled on the 17th out rather than the 15th out.  The upside was that if you trusted the logic, you could have picked up an F5 +1.5 for PIT, that cashed handily.  Personally I did not pull the trigger on that one, since in fact I invested in a F5 +0.5 RL investment on PIT. Nothing big, just something to wash down my beer with.

Moral to the tale: Sports investing is a GRIND.  It's small wins that add up.  A lot of "three steps ahead, four steps back" days.  But here is the rub.  If you are investing with sound logic, by season's end, it evens out.  More importantly, if you step on the books neck on the right lines, you can make a respectable nest egg.  HaroonTheGreat is a master on timing his "step on the book's neck" opportunities.  But for him to be able to have such uncanny timing, he has to know the angles pregame and be hunting for what is ideal to leverage.

Enough education Bud....

In the MIA/CHW game, the CHW SP is not pitching as well as the line suggests. The algorithm hinted at a regression, HINTED.  I originally discarded this flag with sound logic to the contrary, but the algorithm may be onto something.  If this in-game trend continues, it could trigger an early call to the bullpen by the CHW.  The CHW bullpen is gassed, especially their designated closer.  MIA looks like an opportunity at a +MONEYLINE @ +170.

I am going to sit on this an inning or so longer, to see if I can score a +MONEYLINE @ +250 or better.

So here is ANOTHER algorithm gem....

TOR ML at any +moneyline provides us a decided edge, and worth ripping off a few just as we did on MIA.  Again, what I lay and what you should lay is irrelevant.  For the MIA game, I was comfortable laying a .25 unit, but that's just me.  On this game, I am going to take roll my MIA profit (.50 units) and lay it on the TOR ML, ideally @ +250 moneyline.

Blue Horseshoe's Midnight Update:

Eveni'n gents...  Hope a handful of you were able to keep up with the all the content dropped today.  Just trying to get you through the learning curve as quickly as possible on how my content works, and how you CAN/SHOULD/BETTER benefit from it.  I will soon thin out the "education" content and focus my limited time to spinning narratives containing shrewd angles that offer you a decided edge for the day's beisbol care so you can choose how to best leverage the data for your maximum benefit.

I recommend that if you want to benefit from the content, you familiarize yourself with the ATL/PIT post-mortem analysis previously posted for the ATL SP u15.5 outs prop investment.  It perfectly crystallizes the power of the algorithm and the choices you are forced to make with it's information.

On the WAS ML investment, I actually "overthought" the angle.  The algorithm actually had STL's SP, Pallante, as a POSITIVE performance event, well above his career norms, and ironically a better SP option over WAS's SP, Williams.  But since STL is on a major heater, and since the team is really not that talented, I went "contrarian" on the data. Baseball Gods quickly punished my mortal @ss. But to my credit, bankroll management saved me.  And this is truly the Holy Grail of sports investing - BANKROLL MANAGEMENT.  The WAS loss cost a whole .25 units.  Big effin' deal!  Our bankroll survives for another opportunity.  

And sure enough, the opportunities came quickly in the form of in-game investments during the MIA and TOR games.  Moving forward, the majority of the true money making opportunities will drop in this fashion.  And this is a perfect segue to discuss how I have handsomely benefited from the same angle knowledge you will read in my content.  So, prior to today's card, in my pregame investment window content drop, I discussed both, MIA, & TOR, as angles I was sniffing.  Doubt me, go back and read the post.  

Here are the quotes verbatim:

Hell, just about all of the content I dropped provided golden information.  Here is another gem: "But be careful on the LAD/ARI total since both SP's are GB inducers."  Sure enough, the number covers the under easy-peasy.  

Again, I don't want to beat a dead horse, but this is what you'll constantly get: Angles, wrapped in logic, presented in narrative form.  I will not "recommend a pick" but rather implore you to consider an angle. The way I benefit from the algorithm tool is to burrow into my perch, then sit and wait like a world class sniper and train my McMillan TAC-50 at it's target. Crack open a beer, and then just wait. And wait. And wait.  Till the pregame narrative begins to unfold before my eyes on my flatty. Sometimes it does not materialize, so I never fire the shot, and don't lose precious units.  But when/if I do fire, it's ALWAYS on a FAT JUICY moneyline in the spirit of HaroonTheGreat's in-game style for soccer.  Trust me, this is the absolute ONLY way to invest in sports.  The rush, the satisfaction, it's priceless.  And to boot, you make coin. And if you lose the investment, who cares, you laid peanuts for a few benjies, instead of laying benjies to make a few peanuts. Get it?  Peanuts for benjies is always better than benjies for peanuts.  Don't ever forget this.  The trick is knowing which +moneylines are for sucka's and which are for sharps.  Through the DEFCON system, I can provide you some angles where you too can get into the +moneyline business.  

Y'all got a taste of this on the MIA and TOR in-game observations.  There will be more similar opportunities.  Maybe if someone can figure out how to leverage technology, I can leverage such technology to disseminate my in-game observations and timing in a more efficient manner, maybe even for a reasonable pay-as-you-play billing model. But I digress.  My content is to do a solid for society, and hopefully save a couple of you from ruining your life and that of your cherished ones with very poor and destructive gambling activities, and not to necessarily monetize it.  Anyways, technology and I are like Paki's and Indians, we often don't see eye to eye.
