It’s not a ton of history, but since the expanded Wild Card started in 2022, only one team has won a game after losing game 1 (2022 Mets vs. Padres) but the Mets ultimately lost game 3. Seems like there’s a huge incentive to win game 1. With that said, how can one turn away from the Tigers, Royals, Mets, and Padres tonight? And the books don’t necessarily have it priced that way. Of course, history doesn’t mean it’s always going to happen that way. In your mind, what’s more important? Today’s pitching matchups, or the momentum of winning game 1 and putting those teams that are down on their heels?
