For what it’s worth, last night was not a particularly good one for me. I am definitely not over this damned Covid. I wasn’t yesterday and I still not today.
My wife and I both developed Covid two weeks ago. She got sick on Wednesday the 4th, and I got sick on Friday the 6th. I was definitely the sicker of the two of us. By Saturday night and Sunday, I thought that I might die. Our doctor put me on some really heavy meds, Paxlovid, three horse pills twice a day for 5 days and I didn’t die.
Of the five sides that I used on my parlay card yesterday, three won, the Mets full game ML and the Cubs 1st 5 and full game MLs, and two lost, the Mets 1st 5 ML and the Prates 1st 5 ML. The Mets got another strong outing from Sean Manaea, but squandered a couple of early scoring opportunities and lost the 1st 5, 1-0. Rookie sensation Paul Skenes pitched great again, but got zero run support from the Pirates in another 1-0 1st 5 loss.
I finished the evening -9.08 units, leaving me +172.99 for the 2024 season. That is quite a turnaround for me.
With less than two weeks left in the regular season, we have a full slate of games tonight, and since I’m still not over this damned thing yet and I’m still very tired, I will be brief. Here’s my Tuesday card.

SF @ BALT
The Orioles are the better team here. They’re still only 3 games behind the Yankees in the AL East and currently hold the top AL wind card spot. The Giants have no realistic shot at the postseason. They’re just playing out the string. And looking to next season. This is all about the two starting pitchers. Albert Suarez has been OK for the Orioles, but Blake Snell has been sensational for the Giants. For five innings, give me Snell every single time.
Pick – SF 1st 5 ML in a series of parlays
LAD @ MIA
The Dodgers haven’t quite wrapped up the NL West yet, but they are closing in on it with a 3.5 game lead over the Padreswith just 12 games left to play. The Marlins traded all the assets that they could at the trade deadline, and are now fielding an AAA lineup. No wonder that they’re the 2nd worst team in baseball. I don’t trust Bobby Miller one bit, but I do trust the Dodgers to outhit the Marlins and win this game.
Pick – LAD ML in a series of parlays.
WASH @ NYM
With last night’s come-from-behind win, the Mets now lead the Braves by one game for the final NL Wiid Card spot. The Nats are long out of playoff contention. The Mets y hit a lot better than the Nats, and while neither bullpen is reliable and neither starting pitcher is exceptional, the Mets should be the better team here.
Pick – NYM full game MLs in a series of parlays
PHIL @ MIL
Bother of these teams should win their respective divisions. Both are very good hitting teams, but the Brewers should have the better bullpen. However, this is all about the two starting pitchers and Zack Wheeler v Frankies Montas looks like a mismatch to me.
Pick – PHIL 1st 5 ML in a series of parlays
DET @ KC
The Tigers remain 1.5 games behind the Twins in the race for the final AL wild card spot, while the Ryals currently hold the 2nd AL wild card spot. The Royals hit better than the Tigers and Cole Rangans has pitched better than Casey Mize. The royal are the better team.
Pick – KC 1st 5 and full game MLs in a serioes of parlays
